With the help of Wheesung, Taegoon has improved vocally for this new mini album. It starts with the intro track featuring Hyuk Sang of Space Cowboy and Kim Yeo Hee. It’s a very good hip hop track that makes wish it was an actual song instead of a short intro. The title song “Superstar” features rapper Nassun. Being the main song, I’m not sure whether it was a good choice or not. The song didn’t stick on to me as long as his debut song “Call Me” did. “Superstar” isn’t all too bad to listen to, but considering that “Call Me” was pretty good, “Superstar” was a disappointment.
The other songs off the mini album “Bye Bye”, “네까짓 게
” and the remix version of “Call Me” were actually pretty good. They had a repetitive chorus and a beat that could be more recognized compared to “Superstar.” Overall, the mini album was a nice listen but it didn’t sound as good as I had expected of him. However, Taegoon came back with his third mini album just last month and whether or not it’s great, that’s for another review. I’m sure he will be more successful this time around with the new mini album. Considering the fact that he has already released three mini albums and just debuting this year, Taegoon is truly a rising star.
