8eight returned this spring with a different concept for their title track to show music listeners. The title track, “Validity Period”, is a fast-beat electronic song that doesn’t entirely drown out the three vocalists. Though it’s a somewhat unlikely approach for the three, it still retains their original feel.
The album starts out with the intro, “Love is Leaving”, which features the clattering of silverware in the beginning accompanied a tearful and emotional monologue by member Lee Hyun. It also consists of a beautiful piano melody backed with a melancholy orchestra. Following the intro is the second track, “The End is Coming”, where rapper and sub-vocal Baek Chan caresses the song with his strong rap and smooth singing. With their firm robust vocals, Lee Hyun and Ju Hee wonderfully compliment Baek Chan’s swift rap. After that, the album moves onto another strong and emotional ballad track. In this track, “Even if the Face Changes”, one can hear another side of Ju Hee’s vocals, a side that is sort of expressing a cry; an ache for something or someone.
In “STAR”, 2AM members Chang Min and Jin Woon join 8eight to sing a sparkling and catchy track, showcasing not only clear vocals but an upbeat rhythm. Ending the album is a simple yet soothing 32-second outro.
