Veteran artist, Baek Ji Young, who had originally debuted as a dance singer, releases her best album titled “Timeless,” confirming her successful transition as a ballad artist. The album consists of twelve songs – eleven hit songs released between the years of 2006 and 2009 as well as one new ballad.

The album begins with title track, “When Time Passes.” This is a very beautiful piece composed and penned by Jun Hae Sung. The calming piano and string arrangements accompany Baek Ji Young’s emotional vocals as she tells a story about a person resenting how slowly time passes by as she longs for her ex-lover.

The next song is “Won’t Love,” arguably the song that helped the singer make a strong comeback into the music scene after her hiatus. This hit ballad, composed by the famous Park Geun Tae is a classic, one all Baek Ji Young fans and K-pop listeners alike recognize and cherish.

Track five is dance number, “Candy to My Ears.” The artist goes back to her roots with dance music incorporating heavy beats with Spanish sounds and lyrics. Baek Ji Young found much success with this song with the help of 2PM’s Taecyeon who happened to be a rising star at this time. Fans of dance music will definitely get a kick out of this.

Other songs I enjoyed were “Like Being Shot By a Gun” and “Just Need One Love.” These along with the ones mentioned above were definitely some of the many classic ballads worth remembering.

The last song I want to mention is “Give My Lips,” the other dance number included in this best album. The beats are very repetitious, yet catchy with scandalous lyrics about cheating with one’s best friend’s boyfriend.

In conclusion, I must say I enjoyed the album for the most part. It included all of Baek Ji Young’s hits within the past couple years – songs today’s K-pop lovers are most familiar with. This is also the perfect album to purchase for those who haven’t had the chance to grab a copy of Baek Ji Young’s album as it has all her hit songs in one CD. So what are you waiting for?
