Actor Kim Jae Won has suspended all activities due to cervical disc problems stemming from a recent car accident, it was reported today.
According to the actor’s management agency, Kim Jae Won was involved in a car accident last May. However, because of his busy TV drama schedule he skipped all rehab process and was recently diagnosed with cervical disc disease. “Due to the pain in his neck, Kim Jae Won has suspended all activities and is currently focusing on rehabs. His health condition is too poor to resume any TV activities, so he won’t be making any appearances indefinitely,” the agency said.
On May 2nd, Kim Jae Won was hit by a car on a local highway, which resulted in repair charges of nearly $10,000 USD for his damaged van. At the time, it was thought that Kim Jae Won only suffered from minor injuries and scratches. Later he reported some pain around his neck, but in order to finish filming for his recently ended MBC drama “Can You Hear My Heart,” Kim Jae Won forced himself to continue with his work. His agency said, “It was his professionalism that kept him filming despite the pain.”
Kim Jae Won debuted in 2001 with the MBC drama “Honey Honey.” His roles in MBC drama “Romance” and SBS drama “Rival” earned him the “Best New Actor Award” from MBC and “Most Popular Actor Award” from SBS in 2002. He enlisted in the Korean Army in 2009 and just completed his two year compulsory service in January of this year. MBC “Can You Hear My Heart” was his first drama appearance since his discharge from the Army.
