***UPDATE: Rain just tweeted the following message, denying earlier reports that he would hold a press conference to announce his military enlistment. “What press conference…military enlistment is not something to brag about. I’ll let you all know as soon as I get the exact date confirmed (for enlistment). The press conference (on Sept. 24) is not to announce my enlistment. It’s becase I have a big project to announce before joining the army.”
Rain will join the Korean military next month. According to multiple sources, Rain received his draft notice this week and will begin his military service in October.
For the official announcement, Rain will hold a press conference right before his Seoul concert on Sept. 24. At the press conference, he is expected to talk about the enlistment and discuss his experience working with Park Jin Young for their last album, while sharing more details on the upcoming semi-documentary film on Rain’s concert and movie filming. Rain is also currently in talks with CJ E&M to whether have his farewell performance on Mnet.
The star singer/actor was originally expected to join the military last year, but because of his role in KBS drama “The Fugitive,” he postponed it for a year. Rain has recently finished filming for his new movie, “Emergency: Close to the Sun,” co-starring Shin Sae Kyung, and is on a nationwide tour covering six cities in Korea.
