Psy’s “Gangnam Style” Ranks 2nd on Billboard Once Again and 1st on Chinese Music Chart

Psy has ranked 2nd on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for three weeks straight now. Fans are hoping that Psy will be able to come out on top next week since he is returning to the States to continue his promotions.

On October 11, Billboard Biz announced that Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has been placed 2nd while Maroon 5‘s “One More Night” has been placed 1st for the fourth consecutive week.

Billboard stated that next week’s battle will probably once again be between Psy and Maroon 5. Billboard also stated that if “Gangnam Style” got more radio airplay and increases its streaming and sales, it can indeed climb up to the number 1 spot. Billboard reports that the radio airplay for “Gangnam Style”  is still in its early stages so there is hope that it will increase.

Psy also became the first Korean artist to top China’s Baidu Top 500 music chart on October 11. Baidu Top 500 ranks artists based on the amount of search and download numbers.

Sources from Psy state, “Despite the lack of promotions of “Gangnam Style” in China, it is becoming a hot issue there due to the many parody clips online. News on Psy have also been reported in various media outlets.”

Meanwhile, Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has surpassed 400 million views on YouTube, making him the first Asian artist to be placed in the Top 10 Most Watched video chart.
