9,000 Italian Fans Gather for “Gangnam Style” Flash Mob

It was recently discovered that more than 9,000 Italians had gathered in Palermo for a flash mob event of Psy’s megahit single, “Gangnam Style.”

The flash mob is reported to have taken place on October 6 in front of the Verdi Plaza, where the Teatro Massimo, one of the most popular opera houses in Europe is located. A video of the event was also posted on YouTube, giving an idea of how massive the flash mob actually was. In fact, Korean media has reported that the Palermo flash mob has sparked a series of other flash mob events to pop up around Italy, as a number of videos showing thousands of fans dance to “Gangnam Style” has been uploaded on YouTube recently.

Netizens that saw the videos commented, “Psy is the best Korean ambassador,” “Why is this not happening in Korea?” and “These videos give me chills.”
