Girls’ Generation’s Jessica Criticized for Her Lack of Punctuality

Girls’ Generation’s Jessica Criticized for Her Lack of Punctuality

Girls’ Generation’s Jessica is currently under fire for arriving late to an event.

On February 12, Jessica was scheduled to appear at a PR event for the cosmetics brand she endorses at the Lotte Department Store in Sogongdong, Seoul. However, she left fans hanging in the freezing cold as she was 30 minutes late. It’s been reported that fans and reporters were further irritated when the singer-actress did not explain or apologize upon her arrival.

Regarding her tardiness, a representative of the event explained, “Earlier that morning, Jessica was busy preparing for her upcoming Japanese arena tour. However, that ended later than planned, and that’s why she was late to the event.” The rep continued, “The Lunar New Year’s traffic, as well as the numerous fans waiting outside the venue, made it extremely hard for her through. Jessica wanted to apologize, but because we were stretched for time, she couldn’t. She’s truly sorry.”

However, it appears that many were unsatisfied with the explanation and demanded that Jessica personally apologized. Some netizens’ comments included, “Was it really that impossible to take a minute to explain?” “Why doesn’t she just apology herself,” “Is a lack of punctuality a sign of arrogance?” “Girls’ Generation must be really busy,”and more.

Well yeah, it's unfortunate. I have to agree to the fans tho, she should at least apologize for that.

Oh calm the hell down. I don't care if celebrities should be punctual blah blah blah. They're still human. Have none of you judgmental people ever been late for something? You people just like to complain and blow things out of proportion (out of boredom or jealousy I'm sure). I bet no apology would have been good enough for you anyway. You'd find another reason to criticize her. Give the girl a break. @Kyanu9, I clicked LOL for your comment because I know that must have been sarcasm.

Even if she apologized, she would only have "a second" to do so. And you wanna know what? I'm pretty sure that the Netizens will still complain about "she didn't apologize sincerely enough!" "she didn't apologize correctly" "if you don't apologize with sincerity might as well don't apologize at all."<div><br></div><div>You guys are getting angry and it seems silly.<br>You all say that being on time is very important in Korea. So Jessica was late, for many external reasons that she could not control, and then she rushes to her next appointment trying to not be any more late than she already is. I think her apology should first be made to the workers that she was late to, then an apology to the fans be it in person, TV, or in her Tweets.<br></div>

@Kyanu9 I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious...

Linsay Lohan took good care of her image for years, but look at her now! WOW! 30 minutes late! It’s been reported that fans and reporters were further irritated when the singer-actress did not explain or apologize upon her arrival. Well, somethings up! These are early signs of abnormal behavior and if she continues a pattern of this kind of behavior, you can kiss your career goodbye. Hope its not DRUGS! That would explain her tardiness and ATTITUDE !

But when it comes down to it, SM did the best they could to set the schedule so she could appear. In case you don't know, she had to come in from a different country RIGHT after their arena tour probably with little rest she still tried to make an appearance, the thing is that she came back into Korea on a holiday which could explain the traffic.

Well, there must be a reason why she's late. They take good care of their image for years now so it so unreasonable for her to just throw it like that.

Netizen : a group of people who think that they are the race of perfection who will never do anything wrong. but yeah, i think she should've said something personally about it. a "Sorry for coming late, the traffic was just so jam packed" wouldn't take forever anyways...

People need to calm down. Seriously, she's a K-Pop star. Eventually things like this will happen. SM was not aware that the previous scheduled event was going to run later than expected. Seriosuly. I get that being on time is very important in the Korean culture but still, things happen so lighten up and just move on. Why dwell on such things?

But becos she is SNSD, the reporters blow things up to get readers. And why is this article so different from other articles? She sent her apologies, but the event staff never mentioned it? Seriously, these reporters are just totally unfair to her, don't mention her apologies, and the traffic and delay wasn't even her fault . Now they put the blame on her? and say she did not apologise? WTFrn This is untrue. It's actually rare for a star to be late for anything in K-entertainment. Punctuality is more important than anything. Especially for a young celebrity.

she thinks she's too popular to apologize so she needs a representative to do it for her. so, netizen needs to just suck it up.

Netizens act like they have never been late before because they were held back by traffic or because prior engagement ran a bit overtime. Crazies.

People been waiting for 30 minutes or even longer (because they had to come earlier than the event time to get the best view/place) and a simple "I'm sorry for being late" will not waste any of your super duper busy schedule and will calm the fans down.

This could really go both ways...one being that you really can't help it with how poorly SM managers manages their artists' schedules (or from any company for that matter), and honestly 30min...you could wear warmer clothes and be totally fine with it -.- you're gonna be standing outside for longer than that anyway. She probably could have at some point made even just a slight "I'm sorry for the delay" (it might just be that it wasn't mentioned in the article). Think about it though, even if she did explain, the reporters are bound to twist it into their own perspective and make her look bad anyway, also, the entire event will become an interview for the reasons behind those initial reasons why she's late....so in the end...just suck it up and move on >_>

It has nothing to do with her, her earlier appointment ended late, then got stuck in traffic. How the heck did this made news is beyond me. Of course when she came off the stage at the Kobe concert to personally hand a young girl the autographed balls they were throwing to people, didn't make news.

Wow. This is ridiculous. How can they not be satisfied with the explanation? Had Jessica been given the chance to apologize, she'd have said the same exact thing as that representative said.
