[Video] 2012 K-Pop Group Debuts

Following up to our previous videos “History of  Boy Groups from 1996-2011” and “History of  Girl Groups from 1996-2011,” the 2012 version is finally here!

In the videos, the groups are in listed order of their official debut.

Last year was definitely a busy one for new groups as there were a total of 38 new boy groups and 41 new girl groups. Along with normal idol groups, this video also includes bands, duos and sub-units that have debuted.

Looking at the [Infographic] K-Pop Idol Groups that featured the 258 groups from the past 15 years , the debuts in 2012 easily exceeded the record amount of debuts in 2011.

Boy Groups

Girl Groups

After watching the videos, hopefully you found a new group that you want to learn more about.

Did you recognize many of these new groups? Coming from a known company does help a lot.

Notes:
- The groups are in order of official debut. Pre-debut songs don’t count, with the exception of SPEED who made their real debut in 2013.
- Every group got 15 seconds in. I tried to feature a clip of the chorus and main choreography points, while also trying to show as many members as possible.
- I randomly chose a intro song for both. They are the beginning instrumentals to EXO‘s “History” and SPICA‘s “Russian Roulette
- Not included: DSP Media‘s new girl group Puretty has debuted in Japan, but not yet officially in Korea. Cutie-L is another girl group that is made up of child actors.
- Adding all the members up, there are 190 boys and 196 girls.

Ok Girl groups...not my forte .. I am gonna be honest they all seem the same to me ( all cutesy and an occasional tough one) but lets see... -SPICA.. thought I would hate them but man those girls have lungs ( I mean in a good way) powerful vocals with an occasional R&B vibe or hip-hop added. - EXID -- not the best debut but they have a really nice vocaled song I Feel Good! Check it! - Hello Venus -- ok I hate cutesy...but man they are so adorable ( ok now that is done with)... if you like cutesy than this is for you! - GLAM- actually their debut song was good ( talked about love and how anyone should be able to love each other- girl/boy or girl/girl)...but it just seemed like to good to be true since their next song..ehh! - EVOL ( now this looks like an attempt at getting a similar audience to 2NE1- not gonna happen but) I like the indian/spanish vibe to the song so we will see ( reminds me of MONA LISA from MBLAQ) - FIESTAR-- ok I am loving them definitely try them out! I love VISTA-- catchy Latin underbeat!

Don't write some of them off due to their debut songs for example: - VIXX is actually not that bad ( really liked their second debut song Rock Ur Body) - CHAOS actually has a really awesome song called KISS KISS ( and the music video is all stop motion) - BTOB really great vocals and dances (do check them out-- WOW is a really catchy song from them) -100%- really great vocals and dance steps are really sharp-- I got their album and it was worth it! -LUNAFLY very chill think BUSKER BUSKER or K Will... not at all dance pop-like...but very good! Definitely try...TRY being the word PHANTOM & TASTY ( even though it is really similar to JJ PROJECT?..or is that just me?) On the other hand some looked like copies of other groups ( no offense BIG STAR- bad attempt at BIG BANG)

For the boy groups, watching this the vocal groups really stood out to me like 4-Heaven & 4BiC. As far as the girls, I've been into Ace of Angels(AOA), SKarf, Hello Venus, Crayon Pop, 15&, GLAM, & of course SNSD-TaeTiSeo. I just recently started listening to SPICA & Fiestar. I do remember seeing some of these groups, but no one really stood out for me especially BIKINY, She'z, & 84LY. It seems like these companies were in a such a rush to debut these groups that they didn't bother to train them very long.

I've only watched the boy groups so far, and...a lot of those were just terrible or repeats of the last song. Now, I follow many more boy groups than girls, but I'm guessing the girl groups from last year will be better. Also, the number of groups being released each year is ridiculous considering how most of them won't even cause a glitch on the radar. Seriously. What is the deal?

cool! the boy groups that caught my attention are BTOB, C-clown, BAP, VIXX, 100% (Idols) and Phantom, 2BIC (vocals)...The rest I'm not really sure I remember them:(...surplus in new groups

It's sad that so many groups debut an not even half make it back. I don't understand why companies force out so many groups and not just focus on one or maybe three just to make sure they are making a name for themselves.

Did I miss Lee Hi in the girl group video? She debuted in Oct 2012... Its easy to see where my tastes lay. I knew the majority of the boy groups but only about 2 or 3 of the girl groups...>_>

OH! and i found Timez - Hurray for Idols song cute X)

All the strong boy group debuts came out in the first half of the year. LOL at the one group's "Space" concept at 4:25 into the boys vid
