The success of film “Physiognomy” surpassed all expectations with its impressive figure of nearly 9 million views and counting!
So much so that a spin-off TV drama series is in the works as a continuation of the fascinating story of a skilled face reader who tries to change the course of one nation’s history based around the time of the Joseon dynasty. “Physiognomy” can be defined as “the art of discovering character from outward appearance” or from facial appearance and expressions.
Ever since the film hit theaters on September 11, it has gained over 8.8 million views and counting through October 8. Perhaps the smashing success of the film can be attributed to the acting talent of Song Kangho, Lee Jung Jae, Baek Yoon Sik, Kim Hye Soo, Lee Jong Suk and more.
It will be interesting to see how the large-to-small screen adaptation will look like, seeing as how it is a historical drama and will require much financial and creative investment. The production team is already at the height of their discussion about how “Physiognomy” will be a masterpiece of a historical drama with attention given to all the details of that era. The plot is expected to be more complex rather than include various stories.
The novel version of “Physiognomy” has also sold over 20,000 copies. The media has described the success of “Physiognomy” across various mediums as benefitting from the “One sauce, multiple uses” effect.
