Kara Will Be Recruiting 2 New Members For a Comeback Later This Year

Kara’s agency DSP Media will be recruiting two new members to the girl-group in this first half of 2014 to replace Nicole, whose exclusive contract with DSP Media is now over, and Kang Ji Young, who will not be re-signing with DSP after her contract ends in April. Kara will then continue as a 5-member group, with a comeback planned for later this year.

A high-ranking official at DSP Media said, “After Kara members Han Seung Yeon and Park Gyuri finish up their individual activities, the team will be reorganized with two new members, and we will be releasing a new song for Kara’s comeback.”

DSP Media has already started preparing a project for the recruitment of Kara’s new members from among the agency’s trainees. One official said, “It won’t simply be just choosing two trainees, but doing it in a way that the current Kara members and fans can agree with the decision.” The official stated that he would reveal any updates with more specific details to the media.

Meanwhile, Nicole has withdrawn from Kara, and gone to New York in preparation for a solo album, and Kang Ji Young has stated that she does not plan on re-signing with DSP.

DSP said in an official statement: “After April, Kara will be reformed around Park Gyuri, Han Seung Yeon, and Goo Hara, after which Kara will continue their activities.”

Good for them! I wish them the best. Fan base won't be the same but who cares. "LIFE GOES ON"

I don't understand. DSPM just said they weren't. For the first half of the year, Gyu Ri, Ha Ra, and Seung Yeon were going to focus on individual activities and during the second half of the year, DSPM said they'll just make a comeback as three.

yah and there goes my support out the door. Its not like Kara is a rookie group that they can do this.

ooopppss i thought they wouldn't add any 2 new members anymore?! in 2 years we might not know if any of the 3 original members will be re-signing again to DSP to continue with their group, if then the 2 new members will be left alone and doing solo.. no need to new members, 3 of them can make it more like 5.. kara might be 5 members yet 2 years is just given for them again and we don't know what will happen then on.. ahh..well good luck hope the 2 new members won't be getting much hates instead more love!!! looking forward anyway..

I guess it would be awkward at first, because most would say "No! We want the old members back!" but as a fan of KARA, I guess I have no choice but to support them, because I love them.

TT___TT. Gyuri and Seungyeon is powerful vocally. Hara has good rapping skills. I think they have what it takes as a trio. Must they add two new members? Sigh.

One of them will definitely have to have good English skills to be able to fill in Nicole's spot.

Yeah... I'm not really to excited about this. Those three members have been together for years, it's gonna be weird to introduce two new members. However, it has been done before and worked quite well. After School is a group that has had members "graduate" and new members come in. Fans seem to be fine with it and the group seems to be fine with it (I guess we don't really know). But then again, After School was meant to be that type of group from the beginning. Another group is U-Kiss. Alexander and Kibum (though it was sad how they left) were replaced with great new members, Hoon and AJ. There are also those groups that have split up and have stayed with their 'left over' members like, TVXQ and JYJ.

On the flip side, there's groups like T-ara where the adding members thing hasn't exactly worked... (There might be others, I just can't think of them right now._

As far as Kara goes and the problems and struggles they've had over the years I'm not sure how this will turn out. I feel like it could work, but I can also see it not working. I don't think that fans will 100% against new members, because most people are not that mean. Most people give people a chance first.

I hope that it works, for Kara's sake, because they have been through a lot. That being said, I don't have the most faith in DSP as a company. They've put together some great groups, but the endings of those groups haven't been the best. I don't want Kara to be another one. If at all possible, I want Kara to end a girl group gracefully. I don't want them to have a scandal or something that makes everyone rage quit and all.

All in all, I hope that that current members of Kara are being held in high regard and are not being forced into what they don't want by whoever it may be. As much as we all love KARA, we should love the members first because they are people just like you and me, and they deserve consideration and respect.

that'll just make it awkward for the fans and probably the group

This is why two members left in the first place. It's the sheer disrespect that DSP has for their group. What the eff is this? I don't understand why the other members would even resign with DSP. They don't give a crap about the group or their happiness. They just want to make money. Kara has already established itself with these 5 members. This isn't going to work at all. The girls should have left together and signed as a group elsewhere while still pursuing solo activities like SS501.

but whats so bad about them being 3 members? I think that would be interesting too ,though it would be a girl-trio ,not a girlband lol

Just let it be with the remaining members

Although Kara will get negative comments about this I think its great. We will miss Nicole and Jiyoung but sometimes we have to learn how to move on. I can't wait for KARA's Comeback! :D

You really believe whatever DSP says? 50% of their annoucement would change in the past.

Just a struggle, it is the end of an era but they will always have my support though. My favourits are Nicole and JiYoung but I love the rest of members as well.

No...Nicole had good rapping skill. Hara did some rap recently but she normally does not do much in their songs. I think her strongest skill is the dance so now Nicole is gone, she is probably the best natural dancer in the group.

I really like her personality though. She seems nice but careless. The carelessness induced a lot of anti fans but I think it is kinda cute. Everyone in the industry has antifans anyway.

Nah, it won't work for them but Kara is known for making miracles happen. Their first album was a failure and they should just fade away 6 years ago like many other girls group came out every month. Therefore, I won't be surprised that they just make it work.

They had a good run; I don't think they actually need to fight through this.

@mintcocoacookies  Don't ever use "That being said". It's cliche and arrogant. We know what you said. What's the purpose of saying you said what you said? Is what you said so amazing you must say you said it? That being said, "I said this! Think about it!" Soon as someone uses "That being said" or any of it's iterations their statement becomes null.

I'm just intervening at this key moment for your future's sake. ;D

Back to the topic. I hope DSP fails with their new Kara so the remaining 3 members can refocus on and strengthen their solo careers for an eventual separation from DSP.

@duh123 at first place they all want to leave together...but some members' contract haven't expire...those who expire can leave without the need to break the contract...breaking a contract..need large sum of money :I...its not just whoever can afford :I

@duh123Totally agree but those that also stayed were in it for the money. DSP has lost it's cash cow. I think the three remaining were counting on doing only solo projects. Solo projects are great for the artist in Korea but where they made the cash was in Japan as a group.

It's going to be difficult to get too additional member to gel with this veteran group.

@duh123 The problem with that is that since SS501 left they haven't done any group promotions & won't be able to for quite some time as two members are currently in the military. They've done plenty of solo work though.

duh123
duh123

What does the military services have to do with them leaving DSP? They would've promoted together if they didn't have to do the military service. They can't escape the military service obligation. But they all left DSP and signed with different companies yet did not disband. Don't forget that DSP tried to trademark the name "SS501" so they wouldn't be able to use it. They didn't do this when they were still in DSP but after they left DSP. It shows what kind of company DSP is.

You also can't forget DSP has Rainbow that hasn't made a real profit in all their active years. None of the girls can leave because they are contractually bounded to the company.

Why don't they all just leave together? Because this group hasn't gotten along since day 1. Their personalities clash but money is still a bigger priority for the ones that stayed. Kara is obviously not a priority for the 5 members otherwise they would've left together.

Kara isn't even that popular in Korea compared to japan. So with two new members, it wouldn't work. The two members that stayed aside from Hara are not popular enough on their own to do solo activities. No idea why Hara stayed unless she was offered a huge percentage raise because she's the real cash cow right now.
