The Korean music world in January was run by the girls, the solo artists in particular. While the sexy girl group comebacks made for a hot topic, the music charts were ruled by powerful female vocalists like SISTAR’s Hyorin, Ailee, and Brown Eyed Girls‘ Ga InAccording to Melon’s real-time music chart on January 29, new songs from female artists were in 7 of the top 10 spots. Excluding Girl’s Day’s “Something,” 6 of the 7 spots belonged to female solo artists.
