Kim Hyun Joong Enters Police Station for Questioning About Assault Charges
On September 2, actor and singer Kim Hyun Joong entered a police station as a defendant against charges of assault from girlfriend “A.”
He had been summoned for questioning by the police station at the end of August, but because of his scheduled concert in China, his agency requested the date be moved to early September.
Although there were a large group of reporters in front of the police station, Kim Hyun Joong, his lawyer, and his manager did not answer any questions and went quietly into the building.
Kim Hyun Joong had been charged with assault of “A” on August 20. “A” claimed that Kim Hyun Joong repetitively assaulted her from May to July, resulting in injuries that required at least six weeks to heal, including fractured ribs. Kim Hyun Joong’s acknowledged that there were a physical altercation, but denied that it happened multiple times. Released medical records showed evidence against their claim, but Kim Hyun Joong’s side remained firm in their stance.
If convicted, Kim Hyun Joong could be sentenced up to seven years in prison or be fined more than 100 thousand won (roughly 10,000 dollars).
