Luhan to Sing Theme Song for Chinese Release of Movie “Comrades: Almost a Love Story”

Former EXO member Luhan will sing the theme song for the soundtrack of the mainland China release of “Comrades: Almost a Love Story,” according to Chinese media outlet Sina.

The movie, directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Peter Chan, was originally released in 1996. Due to the political tension between Hong Kong and mainland China, however, it has taken 19 years for the film to be approved for release in China.

A member of the production team explained, “Peter Chan asked [Chinese musician] Dou Feng to arrange for the recording of a new version of the theme song, and requested that Luhan sings for the film’s soundtrack.”

Luhan is expected to be singing the track (tentatively) titled “Sweet as Honey.”

The filmmakers explained, “Luhan’s voice is very clear, and you can tell that he truly grasps what the song is about. Generally speaking, it is a much more modern and youthful rendition than the original version.”

Meanwhile, the film will open in theaters across mainland China on February 13.
