Prosecution Demands 5 Years for Bumkey for Dealing and Using Drugs

The prosecution in the trial of hip-hop artist Bumkey (Kwon Ki Bum) is demanding that he be sentenced to prison for five years and charged a 5,720,000 ( about $5,188 USD) penalty.

Bumkey has been held in custody since last October on charges of distributing and using Philopon (methamphetamine) and ecstasy. Bumkey has denied these charges and his lawyers insist that he has a solid alibi.

At his second trial, a witness testified that he had purchased methamphetamine from Bumkey on multiple occasions from 2011 to 2012.

On April 13, at his eighth trial, Bumkey was called to the stand to answer the prosecution’s questions. He continued to deny all charges against him, and claimed that he was having dinner with his family at the hotel where he is alleged to have used drugs with one of the witnesses.

The court has not yet come to a verdict on the case and so no sentence has yet been decided upon.
