Korea has a reputation for being the top nation for plastic surgery. According to the Korean Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, not only did it take first place in the world for the number of people who received plastic surgery, but also one out of five people in Seoul replied that they had received some sort of plastic surgery.
Recently, The Wall Street Journal reported that face readers are thrown off by people who have gone through such surgeries.
For example, while noses are an indicator of wealth or health, face readers are unable to read the original shape of the nose.
One face reader complained that it is nearly impossible to read the face of a person who has gone through a lot of plastic surgery, making it seem like reading a mask rather than a face.
Ironically, some plastic surgeons are learning the art of face reading and offering to make changes to the face accordingly. Though it is true that plastic surgery can change one’s image, many are doubtful of whether it can change destiny as well.
