“Three Meals a Day” PD Na Young Suk Responds to Criticism of Kim Ha Neul’s Guest Appearance

Actress Kim Ha Neul appeared as a guest on July 3’s episode of “Three Meals a Day,” but the reaction from viewers has been mixed. In particular, some netizens have been reacting negatively because the cast members seemed to be uncomfortable due to her less than stellar cooking skills, and because she kept questioning the others about her food, asking “Isn’t it delicious?”

On July 4, the show’s PD Na Young Suk told news site Edaily on the phone that he thought this reaction was a shame. “Of course, everyone who watches the show can think different things, because parts of a variety program that are intended to be fun can be experienced differently by everyone,” he comments.

“But our filming with Kim Ha Neul was incredibly fun, and Lee Seo Jin and the other members had a great time too,” he says. “Personally, from a producer’s perspective, she was a great guest.”

“It was really enjoyable, and there were a lot of things that happened surrounding just that one meal. This is probably why the ratings were the highest of all the episodes in the season in Jeongseon,” he adds.

“I think that what viewers expect and want has become clear because of the increased interest in the show,” Na Young Suk comments. “I wouldn’t say it was worthy of being called a ‘controversy.’ I just hope that everyone will know that the filming was fun and enjoyable.”

“Three Meals a Day” features Lee Seo Jin, 2PM‘s Taecyeon, Kim Kwang Gyu, and celebrity guests trying to make three meals a day from scratch with only what’s available to them. It airs every Friday on tvN.
