The five boys of WINNER look classy and vintage in a new pictorial for the February issue of W Korea.
Set against the backdrop of a vintage bar, WINNER unveils their sexy side in an eclectic mixture of sharp suits, bold patterns, and leather jackets. Each member highlights their unique charm in individual cuts and shares their thoughts about their upcoming comeback.
“Before a new song is released, I’m so nervous I can’t sleep,” says leader Kang Seung Yoon.
Nam Tae Hyun touches upon WINNER’s long hiatus, saying, “During the long break, I worked hard to overcome my weak spots. As a group that produces our own songs, we have to know a lot about music. I sought out and listened to new music and because I’m currently learning how to play the guitar, I’ve fallen in love with blues music.”
Despite each member’s unique individuality, Song Mino asserts that there were no conflicts while producing their album. “We all worked comfortably together with the mindset of making music that fit WINNER’s color. Rather than thinking we have to escape from the label of ‘idol music,’ we tried to make the music we like and are good at.”
Lee Seung Hoon reveals that his energetic onstage persona is a little different from his real personality. “It’s a mask I wear onstage,” he jokes. “Sometimes I think that I’m lacking in self-love. I don’t like to monitor myself and when I see myself I get embarrassed a lot.”
Kim Jin Woo also shares how the group decides on dividing parts in the songs. “The five of us have come a long way together so we know what each member is good at,” he says. “Seung Yoon, Tae Hyun, and Mino make the music and they think about how to divide it. They give the right parts to the people who suit them best.”
WINNER is scheduled to make their comeback with the mini-album “EXIT: E” on February 1. The full interview can be found on the magazine’s official website.
