food kisses

“Food kisses” are on the rise once again, with the recent “wine kiss” from the latest episode of KBS2‘s “Descendants of the Sun.” These kisses usually refer to kisses that occur while food is being consumed, and seem to be more heart-fluttering than normal kisses. These legendary kisses usually have the element of surprise, and last in the memories of many viewers. See the top five most memorable kisses below!

1. “IRIS” – Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee‘s “Candy Kiss”

The “candy kiss” marks the beginning of the rising trend of “food kisses.” Back in 2009, the “candy kiss” from KBS‘s “IRIS” was a huge shock to viewers, but now, it is remembered as a legendary kiss instead. Kim Hyun Joon (Lee Byung Hun) gives Choi Seung Hui (Kim Tae Hee) the candy in his mouth through a kiss, because he was unable to prepare a gift for White Day. Viewers will especially remember Kim Tae Hee’s rabbit-like surprised expression, and the smile on her face after receiving the piece of candy.

2. “Secret Garden” – Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won‘s “Foam Kiss”

In SBS‘s “Secret Garden,” Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin) wipes the foam on Gil Ra Im’s (Ha Ji Won) mouth not with his hands, but rather his lips. At the time, he captured not only the heart of Gil Ra Im with his actions, but the hearts of all females, starting a “Joo Won” craze. This kiss scene is so famous that it’s been parodied several times since. Most recently it was parodied in tvN‘s “Reply 1988.”

During SBS’s “That Winter, The Wind Blows,” Oh Soo (Jo In Sung) surprises Oh Young (Song Hye Kyo) with cotton candy as a present. While she takes a bite, thinking of the past, Oh Soo also takes a bite from the other side, while gazing at her intently. With their exceptional visuals, this sweet kiss scene seems more like a CF (commercial) than a scene from a drama.

4. “Pinocchio” – Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye‘s “Bread Kiss”

When talking about the near perfect chemistry between Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye on SBS’s “Pinocchio,” one cannot forget the “bread kiss.” The kiss doesn’t actually happen in real life, but instead happens while Choi In Ha’s (Park Shin Hye) dad imagines her and Choi Dal Po (Lee Jong Suk). While the kiss may have been imaginative, it still made hearts flutter.

5. “Descendants of the Sun” – Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s “Wine Kiss”

Only four episodes into the drama, and a memorable kiss has already occurred in KBS2’s “Descendants of the Sun.” At the end of the fourth episode, Yoo Si Jin (Song Joong Ki) offers Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) the wine that he was intending to drink without anyone knowing, saying that as a soldier, he can’t drink it. They begin to speak while she drinks the wine, and when she catches his piercing gaze, she jokes that he must really want to drink it. He merely replies, “It’s not like there isn’t a way,” before placing a kiss on her lips. The straightforward nature of the kiss captivates the hearts of viewers.

Also, the writer of “Descendants of the Sun,” Kim Eun Sook, actually happens to be the same writer of “Secret Garden,” and with the recent “wine kiss,” many acknowledge her talent of knowing just what makes the heart flutter with excitement.
