8 Actors And Directors Win Top Honors At 2016 Director’s Cut Awards

The winners of the 2016 “Director’s Cut Awards” have been announced!

The “Director Cut’s Awards” are chosen annually by film directors and this year took place on August 12 jointly with the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival.

Best Director went to Na Hong Jin, who directed the horror film “The Wailing” this year. Jang Jae Hyun, the director of this year’s exorcism film “The Priests,” won the Best New Director award. The Best Producer award went to Shin Yeon Shik for “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet.” Ahn Gook Jin, the director of “Alice in Earnestland,” won Best Independent Film Director.

In the acting category, Lee Byung Hun won the Best Male Actor category for this year’s “Inside Men,” while Kim Min Hee won Best Female Actor for “The Handmaiden.” Park Jung Min, who showed his acting chops in this year’s “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet,” won Best New Male Actor, while Kim Tae Ri won Best New Female Actor, also for “The Handmaiden.”

Of all the actors, only Kim Min Hee did not attend the ceremony; a representative from “The Handmaiden’s” production company accepted the award in her place. The representative, Im Seung Yong, thanked both Kim Tae Ri and Kim Min Hee for their excellent performances in the film and promised to pass on the honors to the absent actress.

The Jecheon International Film and Music Festival began on August 11 and will end on August 16.
