Singers-Turned-Actors: Lee Joon vs. T.O.P vs. Seo In Guk

Lee Joon in the movie “Rough Play,” T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) in “The Commitment,” and Seo In Guk in “No Breathing.” We can soon expect a clash on the big screen from these singers-turned-actors, who are all appearing in main roles on the big screen in October/November.

Lee Joon will play the role of Oh Young in “Rough Play,” an actor who suddenly rises to fame and lets it go to his head.  Before Lee Joon was a member of MBLAQ, he debuted on the Hollywood big screen in 2009, as the young version of Raizo in “Ninja Assassin,” who was played by Rain.

With his detailed acting skills and flawless action scenes, Lee Joon will show a side of him never seen before on stage, in dramas, or in variety programs.  He said, “The movie scenario was really fun.  I also saw a lot of myself in Oh Young’s character, with his tenacity and passion for acting.  I thought I could do a good job, so I insisted they give me the part.”

When asked why he picked Lee Joon for the part, the director of “Rough Play” said, “I met with a lot of actors in their 20s for the part, and he seemed like he had the most passion and earnest desire for acting.  If an actor has passion and an earnest desire, nothing can overcome that.  He’s going to become a great actor.”

Big Bang member T.O.P has some acting under his belt already, from playing a relentless killer in the drama “Iris,” to an abandoned student soldier in the movie “71: Into the Fire.” He will be appearing on the big screen once again, with a main role in the movie “The Commitment.”

In “The Commitment,” TOP transforms into Lee Myung Hoon, a North Korean student who, in order to ensure his younger sister’s safety, has no choice but to go to the south and take on dangerous assignments.

The winner of season one of “Superstar K,” Seo In Guk, also has some acting experience.  While in the middle of his activities as a singer, he appeared in the drama “Reply 1997” and displayed flawless dialect acting.  He also played a role in the MBC weekend drama, “My Sons,” where he received good reviews for his performance. He just recently wrapped up the popular SBS drama “Master’s Sun.”

In “No Breathing,” Seo In Guk will take a shot at his first main role on the big screen, playing the hermit swimming genius, Won Il, who dreams of joining the national swimming team.

This box-office showdown will start in October, with “Rough Play” scheduled to be released on October 24, “No Breathing” on October 31, and “The Commitment” in November 6.

Just for fun, who do you think has a better screen presence?
