Meeting Between YG and C-JeS Entertainment CEOs Draws Attention

With the recent mergers between and/or reorganization in various entertainment agencies  (e.g. SM C&C with Woollim, JYP Entertainment with JYP, and Loen Entertainment labels), any movement between the major figures in the entertainment industry is likely to draw attention.

One such movement is creating quite a buzz, with local news agency Sports Donga reporting on the meeting of  Big Bang‘s YG Entertainment CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, and JYJ‘s C-JeS Entertainment‘s CEO Baek Chang Joo. Sports Donga writes that according to an industry insider, the two heads met up in Seoul near the end of September. The report offers no specific information about this meeting, merely placing the meeting in the context of the current environment in the music industry where SM Entertainment (specifically SM C&C) joined hands with Woollim Entertainment (home to Infinite)and where Cube Entertainment (home to BEAST) formed an investment partnership with the celebrity management agency iHQ (in charge of actors like Jang Hyuk and Hwang Jung Eum). 

Sports Donga contacted another source about the meeting, who stated to it, “It was simply for a meal together. Please do not over interpret it.  All they did was exchange formalities; it was no more or less than that.”

Another local news agency, Newsen, caught on to this report and questioned a close source to both CEOs, who stated, “They simply met over a meal. They just exchanged greetings. There was no purpose to the meeting, nor was it a meeting to talk about work. They just met as two people who have similar jobs.”
