10cm Becomes First Indie Band to Hold Solo Concert in US

10cm has proven that not only idol groups appeal to the international crowd, as they have become the first Korean indie group to hold a concert in the US.

According to Buruda Concert, an online platform for concerts, the talented duo will perform at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles on January 31. The concert will begin at 8pm local time, and it is titled “Buruda Concert VER.1 – Hello 10cm.” The show was originally announced through 10cm’s Facebook page in December.

For their first-ever US concert, the duo has worked together with well-known promotion company AEG Live to bring their vision to life. The concert hall fits up to 1,300 people, which hints that they have confidence in the size of their international fanbase.

Since starting their career as an acoustic indie duo back in 2009, the two have moved from small Hongdae clubs to big stages, and are now one of the leading forces of Korea’s indie music scene. They are receiving much love from the public thanks to their easy-going and smooth style, and their hits “Tonight I’m Afraid of the Dark,” “Americano,” and “Fine Thank You and You?” Last year, 10cm became the first indie band to fill up the whole Olympic Park Sports Stadium, as they attracted 10,000 fans to their solo concert.

A representative commented, “Unlike entering the US with dance music like K-pop, we are anticipating to see how the Korean music market will be influenced by the US concert of 10cm, who won over the domestic audience with their emotional approach.”
