Yang Hyun Suk Plans to Debut 4 New Teams in 2014

YG’s Yang Hyun Suk has been dropping hints about the debut of his rookies.

YG Entertainment’s CEO Yang Hyun Suk spoke to reporters on January 26. He said, “This year is especially important to YG. I think that right now, rather than being a transition point, it’s more of a period in which we need strengthening.”

“This year there will be four rookie teams debuting from YG, including WINNER. There may be members from ‘WINTeam B amongst those debuting, but nothing has been decided yet.”

“We have to be more and more careful which each group we debut. Since we’re debuting as many as four rookie teams this year, there have been many Sundays spent working recently. Big Bang and PSY are also releasing albums this year, so it’s an important year for us.”

“I used to finish work in the early morning and wake up at 3-4 PM in the afternoon, but nowadays even if I work till dawn, I get out of bed at 9 AM. My work is something I love doing, so it’s not tiring.”

Yang Hyun Suk revealed his opinions as a producer. “It’s harder to attain success when debuting rookies now than in the past. YG is thinking very carefully about debuting rookies. The music that they release is more important than anything else.”

WINNER will be making their official debut in February. Another rookie group that might be on that list is sibling duo Akdong Musician. Besides Big Bang and PSY, others coming back this year include Taeyang (solo) and 2NE1. Tablo has also confirmed a second solo album for 2014.
