Kara Member Jiyoung's Contract with DSP Expires, Leaves for London

Kara member Kang Jiyoung‘s contract with DSP Media has expired, marking the end of their official relationship.

Whether she will extend her contract with the agency or not has been a hot topic as of late, but the question has now been answered, as her contract has officially expired and will not be extended.

DSP Media revealed on April 5, “In January, Kang Jiyoung revealed her will to study abroad, and she has recently taken a break from activities while preparing for studying abroad. Early in the morning of April 5, she left for London to practice her language skills and take acting classes.”

“At the same time, Kang Jiyoung’s exclusive contract with DSP Media expired. We respect her choice to stand alone, and we send our support for her new challenges,” the agency added.

Jiyoung has chosen a similar path to Nicole, whose contract ended earlier this year. Nicole is currently in New York, studying with choreographers. Regarding Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Hara, the three remaining members of Kara, DSP Media commented, “They are focusing on individual activities through acting, variety, and MCing, and we are planning to release an album in the second half of the year.”

“Please show your continuous and generous support and love the members of Kara, who are pursuing more diverse activities than ever before, and Kang Jiyoung,” DSP Media concluded.

We wish Jiyoung good luck with her studies in London, and we hope to see the remaining three members of Kara pursuing activities soon!
