Lee Yeon Hee and Kim So Hyun to Appear in "Dae Jang Geum 2?"
Reports surfaced that actresses Lee Yeon Hee and child actress Kim So Hyun have been offered roles for the upcoming MBC drama “Dae Jang Geum 2” (also known as “Jewel in the Palace 2“) However, SM Entertainment has denied that Lee Yeon Hee was offered a role while Sidus HQ confirmed that Kim So Hyun is brewing over the decision to appear in the drama.
In “Dae Jang Geum 2,” Lee Young Ae is set to reprise her role as Seo Jang Geum. The plan is to have Lee Yeon Hee play as Jang Geum’s disciple and for Kim So Hyun to play as Jang Geum’s daughter. The drama will focus on Jang Geum raising her daughter and training her disicple.
“Dae Jang Geum 2” is attracting investors from China, with companies such as Alibaba, Baidu and HSBC wanting to invest 30 billion to 35 billion won (~$30 million to $35 million USD) into the production. The drama has a desire to start filming in China during the middle of May.
“Dae Jang Geum 2” is the sequel to “Dae Jang Geum,” which was a 54 episode series that amassed ratings over 50 percent. The drama became one of the pioneers of the Hallyu and turned Lee Young Ae into a global star.
