"Misaeng" Original Comic Books Hit Two Million Copies in Sales, Becomes Year's Bestseller
The original comic series of the hit tvN drama “Misaeng” has hit two million copies in sales, and has become 2014’s biggest bestseller.
The publisher of “Misaeng,” Wisdom House, announced on November 26, “‘Misaeng’ hit the one million mark last month, and since then, it has sold another million copies in just a month. It has now become the biggest selling book this year.”
“Misaeng,” a webtoon series by Yoon Tae Ho that serialized on Daum Webtoon, began being published as a physical series in September of 2012. Its last ninth volume was published in October of 2013. Since the premiere of the drama adaptation of “Misaeng,” the sales of the original source material has exploded.
The publishing house of “Misaeng” also commented, “The original readership was mainly men in their 30’s and 40’s, but after the broadcast, the female readership became bigger, as well as the readership of those in their 20’s and the 50’s.”
To celebrate two million copies sold, Wisdom House will be releasing a special edition of the series, with the autograph of the artist and bookmarks of the six main characters.
