Clara's Age Scandal Shedding Light on Other Celebrities Who Lied About Their Age

Though many are expressing shock following the revelation that actress Clara has been lying about her age, it appears that the practice of celebrities hiding their true age is not that uncommon. The following are a few known examples of entertainers who have misrepresented their age for a variety of reasons.

In 2009, Brown Eyed Girls member Narsha revealed on “Strong Heart” that she was actually two years older than her profile suggested. “My real age became a secret against my will,” she said on the show.

Go Eun Mi has also admitted that she had hidden her true age, saying, “Public knowledge is that I was born in 1979, but I’m older than that. [Changing my age] was something that my agency requested when I debuted, and I listened to them. I was actually born in 1976.” In addition, Seo Woo has also admitted that she was in fact born in 1985, not 1988 as had been previously believed. “Female actors hide their age because they fear facing prejudice from audiences,” she stated at the time.

Following the revelation that Han Ye Seul was born in 1981 as opposed to 1982, the actress changed her profile to reflect the truth. Also, singer and actress Uhm Jung Hwa revealed in 2008 that she was born in 1969 rather than 1971. However, she has also revised her profile to reflect a 1969 birthday. Yoon Sang Hyun, who debuted in 2005 at the relatively late age of 32, has also revealed that he changed his birthday from 1973 to 1977 at the time for fear of being perceived as too old.
