Ahn Jae Hyun Describes the Stress of His First Lead Role

Actor Ahn Jae Hyun has discussed the amount of stress he is experiencing due to his first lead role in upcoming KBS2 medical fantasy drama “Blood.”

His comments came during a production conference for the new show that took place on February 11. During the conference, he expressed the difficulty of the role and also his determination to do well, saying, “I’ve been given a starring role after only having debuted a year ago. It’s a huge burden, but along with that burden is a sense of excitement and anticipation. To say I am doing my best is obvious, more than that I am sincerely trying to do well.”

“I worked with experienced actors like Jun Ji Hyun, Lee Seung Gi, and Go Ara in my previous roles, so I was able to escape the burden of carrying a show,” he said, describing the difference between his new role and previous roles in “My Love From the Stars” and “You’re All Surrounded.” “I’ve also lost a lot of weight, and my neck has shrunk by over six centimeters. I don’t sleep well,” he confessed.

He also described his inexperience with several aspects of the show, saying, “I had to do action scenes, and the show also requires a lot of medical knowledge. Before filming started, I used to watch doctors performing surgery. I would also get doctors’ phone numbers so I could ask them about things I was curious about.”

In “Blood,” Ahn Jae Hyun plays the part of Park Ji Sang, a genius doctor who possesses both uncommon good-looks and supernatural powers. A doctor who is also a vampire, Ji Sang has the unique ability to resist his appetite for blood. Working at the country’s best cancer hospital, in which patients with incurable diseases are treated, Ji Sang must use his abilities to help save lives.

“Blood” is scheduled to premiere February 16 at 10 p.m. KST.
