We now have a winner for the fourth season of SBS’ “K-Pop Star,” going home with the 300 million won (approx. 274,000 USD) prize money!

Contestants Katie Kim and Jung Seung Hwan went head-to-head with two finale performances each.

Their scores from the judges accounted for 40 percent of the final vote tally, while viewers’ text votes accounted for 60 percent.

For her first performance, singing Kim Jo Han’s “I Want to Fall in Love,” which was previously sung by Jung Seung Hwan on the audition program, Katie Kim scored near perfect with all three judges, for a total of 295 points: 98 points from Park Jin Young, 98 points from Yoo Hee Yeol, who called the performance her best yet, and 99 points from Yang Hyun Seok.

She then followed up with one of the judges’ very own, Park Jin Young’s “You’re the One,” earning yet another near perfect 296 points out of 300.

Fellow contestant Jung Seung Hwan also took up a song sung previously by Katie Kim on the show, g.o.d’s “Place Where You Need to Be.” Jung Seung Hwan, likewise, scored near perfect with the judges, for a total of 292 points: 99 from Park Jin Young, who complimented his ability to sing a variety of genres, 95 from Yang Hyun Suk, and 98 from Yoo Hee Yeol.

For his second song, Jung Seung Hwan performed a rendition of “If” by Noel’s Jeon Woo Sung, earning a total of 291 points.  Very impressive, but ending the competition nine points behind Katie Kim.
