Watch: Red Velvet Performs "Umpah Umpah" And "Red Flavor" Remix + Joy And Wendy Sing Covers Of Baek Yerin And Pixie Lott

Red Velvet lit up the stage on KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”!

On the August 23 episode, the girl group appeared on the show to promote their latest title track “Umpah Umpah.”

MC Yoo Hee Yeol began, “Every year, [Red Velvet] releases songs that help us cool off in the summer. I’ve been asking, ‘What song gives you strength when you feel tired?’ to everyone appearing today.”

Joy replied, “I’m personally a big fan of Baek Yerin. Recently, as I’ve become older, I’ve started feeling embarrassed telling people that I’m having a hard time. After bearing through it during the day, I returned to my room at the end of the day and listened to this song on a day when I wished I could pour my heart out to someone that I’m having a hard day. While singing along to it, I felt like I was being comforted. The song is Baek Yerin’s ‘Don’t Leave Me Alone.'”

Yoo Hee Yeol commented, “I’m so curious as to what Joy’s version will sound like. Please sing us a bit of it.”

The MC then asked Wendy about a song that gave her strength. She answered, “For me, it’s a song called ‘Everybody Hurts Sometimes’ by Pixie Lott. The lyrics of this song talk about how everyone goes through a difficult time in their lives and how you can lean on someone during that time. It says that kind of moment can come at any time and it’s nothing bad. Anyone can get hurt and go through a difficult time. It’s a song that comforted me while I listened to it and sang it.”

Yoo Hee Yeol replied, “I wonder what kind of emotion it will invoke when Wendy sings it, and I hope that there will be people who choose this as their ‘healing song’ while listening to it.”
