Kim Min Jae Talks About His Resemblance To Yeo Jin Goo, 2nd Season Of "Dr. Romantic," And More

Actor Kim Min Jae recently sat down for an interview with HeraldPOP to talk about the end of his drama, JTBC’s “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.”

“It was my first time taking on a lead role, as well as filming such a long sageuk [historical drama],” he said. “That’s why I think I learned a lot.”

He added, “The character Ma Hoon had to communicate with most of the major characters in ‘Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.’ I think that just as Ma Hoon learned new things from everyone he met, I learned a lot from taking on my first leading role and communicating with my co-stars and crew members.”

Kim Min Jae was also asked about his resemblance to Yeo Jin Goo and his next acting project.

“I’ve heard that [I look like Yeo Jin Goo] so often now that I don’t really feel anything,” he said. “I just think, ‘Oh, I see.’ I went to the same school as Jin Goo. We’re very different people, but people around us always say we look alike. So I’m like, ‘I see,’ but I don’t actually think about it that much. This was true back when I debuted and it’s true now – I’ve lived a different life from Yeo Jin Goo and I’m sure I have different values and directions in life. I think that if I just live my life, one day I’ll become ‘just Kim Min Jae.'”

About the second season of “Dr. Romantic,” he said, “I really liked the vibe on the first season. I learned a lot and it was fun to be around the cast and crew. Season 2 is almost exactly the same. It’s like coming home after spending the day outside. I’m glad that I could return, and I’m filming in a happy mood.”

He added, “I have to manage my physical condition. It’s okay for now, but the second half has a lot of surgery and emergency scenes, so I have to start managing my condition now in order to conserve energy. I go to the gym, receive physical therapy, and eat well.”

Kim Min Jae picked Han Suk Kyu as his role model from the show and said, “I often thought that I wanted to become like him. His acting is amazing, of course, but his leadership qualities, his kindness, his respect, and his humor made him very cool in my eyes.”
