IU And BTS' Suga's New Collab Dominates iTunes Charts Across The Globe + Sets New Record

IU’s highly-anticipated collaboration with BTSSuga is sweeping charts across the globe!

On May 6 at 6 p.m. KST, IU dropped her new digital single “eight,” which was produced by Suga in addition to featuring him as an artist. IU and Suga also worked together on composing the music and lyrics for the song.

After soaring to the top of domestic realtime music charts and breaking Melon’s record for the most unique listeners in the first hour of a song’s release, “eight” went on to dominate iTunes charts in countries all over the world as well.

As of 9:11 a.m. KST on May 7, “eight” had hit No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 59 different regions—a new record for Korean female soloists—including the United States, France, Singapore, New Zealand, Finland, Malaysia, the Philippines, and more.

IU is also only the second female Korean soloist ever to top an iTunes chart in the United States, following Younha, who first achieved the feat with her song “Winter Flower” (featuring BTS’s RM) in January.

Congratulations to both IU and Suga on the success of their new song!
