MAMA 2009 = JOKE
This year's MAMA is a big fat joke. I've figured out how the award system works for Mnet many years ago but this year's is the worst.
If I must pick a song, 2009 is Gee's year. No matter how you look at it, from the perspectives of album sales, digital sales and / or popularity, Gee rules. But since SM and Mnet is not in good terms this year, I already expect them to not give any big awards to SM artists aka all the high album and digital sales gasoos.
As much as I didn't like G-Dragon's solo album and as much as I didn't think 2PM is strong enough to receive any daesangs as yet, I have to surrender to the unarguable album sales and popularity. However, I have a big problem with 2ne1 winning the song of the year. In terms of sales, I think BEG is not that far behind 2ne1. In terms of popularity, Abracadabra is a far more popular song than the plagiarized I Don't Care. Anyone can disagree with me, but friends from Korea notice how 9 out of 10 youngsters love Abra and 4 out of 10 above 40 years old knows what Abra is while 6 out of 10 youngsters like IDC and 1 out of 10 above 40 knows what is IDC.
Also, I'm a fan of Kara, but Honey is not a Best Dance material at all. Due to popularity maybe Mister is but it's so darn obvious that Mnet wanted to give Kara something that they just give whatever they can to them. I was also very happy when they gave the Best Male Artist award to Drunken Tiger instead of another YG artist. I was wishing they would give it to Rain but since Tasha did a show for MAMA, it's not a total surprise they gave the award to her husband instead.
Last but not least, the 3 daesangs that Mnet gave out
2PM - Wild Bunny
2NE1 - 2NE1 TV
GD - GDTV
Viewers' ratings are very good for both shows. This speaks a lot for itself and how the 'internal' judging works. (Album + digital sales - 25% Votes - 25% Internal judging - 50%)
After this, I don't think I am watching any Mnet award shows ever again.

I'm okay with 2ne1 getting rookie award but puh-lease.. song of the year award??.. fan or not, it is pretty obvious that SM won that award.
As for album of the year I expected Super Junior to win.. but I can take GD winning the album of the year (even with the plagiarism issue) only because he outsold SuJu in album sales =.=
as for artist of the year.. I really like 2PM but SNSD/SuJu are stronger this year..so I don't really agree 2pm winning. I would like it if they won Song of the Year with Again and Again instead of 2ne1. I still love 2ne1 tho..
