My first trip to Korean (Dec 2007)by: moon_kaka on: January 16, 2008 4:32am
It seems like something unforgettable for me & maybe it'll be useful for you guys, so I'll write my experiences down. 4 Vietnamese people I already wrote in our language, so visit me here if u like. Ok, here we go .... 1st, make your plans carefully before starting. Make sure that what u wanna do there ^^ Sorry 4 my words sound superior but I'm not kidding. I planned to go there only 3 days so if I had been there only for visiting & shopping, it would have been different as I came there mainly for concerts. Knowing the aim will help you save time & money. Place to stay: If you have friend or someone you know in Korea already, it'll be easier. You can reserve a hotel/guest house/motel or get information about everything here: http://english.tour2korea.com/index.asp. If you don't wanna spend a lot for accommodation, you can try http://hospitalityclub.org there're plenty of wonderful people in that site that can help you out. I'd been through all the possibilities & chose the last one. I love the family I stayed with, they are really gorgeous. Food: Don't be worry about it ^^ Food-standing & fastfood, restaurants r everywhere. If u like smth specific, search for them first. Example traditional food or a famous or unique coffee shop. I wanted to experience Xiah's father's pizza shop but I didn't have enough time T___T I usually have a poor appetite while travelling so I can't help much.
Travel: I used the subway when have time & taxi when I was in a hurry or tired. Fee of one entrance for subway is 1000won, you can buy it in the subway area (u can get a pocket map for free there with useful phrases in Korean, I love it ^^). You have to stamp it when entering & leave it at the machine when going out, mostly its valid is 90 mins (if I'm not wrong). I was out of time once, so I just crept out of the machine ^^! Be careful with the taxi, most of them r nice but I met some ppl cheated on foreigners. They counted the clock wrong or offered a price without using the clock (I saw it happened at night). Make sure you carry won with you, once I didn't have enough to pay, the taxi driver didn't accept dolars but he got what I had left (^___^). They don't understand or speak much English so be sure to have smth to show to them ^^ Ok, I think it's the basic. Now it's my own. I went to 3 concerts (Yurisangja, FTTS, Moon Hee Jun) & the KBS song festival. You can find the concerts on the day u wanna go at: http://ticket.interpark.com/ If u're not sure how to use it, I'm glad to talk to you about it. To purchase the ticket you must have a Korean or foreigner living in Korea ID so it's better to ask someone living inside Korea reserve for you if you want to make sure that you already have the ticket & good seat. But from what I've seen, they were still selling tickets at the last minute ^^ so don't worry too much. The family that hosted me they bought tickets for me, I'm still now thankful to them About the event that r held by TV station (mine was the KBS song festival, I'm not sure it applies to others but I think yes ^^!), u can either have a ticket/invitation or attending for free. There'll be a queue outside the location b4 the event time, they're queueing to come in & if they still have seats on the 2nd floor, they'll let these ppl in ^^~
My trip was too short so I didn't get many things but I was extremely happy because I could attend those concerts - that I had thought that I could never do it ^^~ Feel free to ask me whatever u're concerning 'bout. I'll try my best. »

Moreover the more u know the events, the greater joy u'll experience. When going to concerts, be sure to have cash with you, there're always a lot of worthy things to buy before the concerts with a low price ^____^ (i.e: the FTTS CD was so cheap but I already had T.T)

U're welcome ^-^ I'm glad that I can do smth helpful ^-^
