And so begins *another* vacationby: the real ginger on: February 16, 2008 8:29pm
Spring vacation!!! Wooo...in...mid-February. Alright, so it's not ideal, I'll give you that, but I definitely won't complain. On Friday, Dean and I celebrated our "graduations" by going to the Outback that's close to our schools. It was nice to have a "regular" meal--I got some chicken and pasta dish. There were a million families with huge bouquets for their kids all over town that afternoon. I even saw a fair few of my students at the Outback. That evening, Dean and I met up with some of our college friends, plus our summer camp pals and a few other public school teachers that I've met along the way. It was an amusing evening, although it ended early. And by early, I mean 3 am. At home, that would have been a PERFECTLY good time to go home--it would be pushing "very late." But here, you go home feeling a bit silly, like, "Man, it's only 3!" The thing that I love about teaching English in Seoul is that you expand your circle of connections so, so much. When we went out, we had a friend from New Zealand, two from Ireland, one from England, four from America, etc, and you just keep meeting new people. Some of the guys we ended up hanging out with, I don't even know that well. I'd gone to a bar with a big group of them months ago but hadn't seen them since. But the atmosphere is so casual that it's easy to just go up and say, "Hey! Haven't seen you in forever--what's going on?" and next thing you know, your group in the bar has gotten even bigger. We have friends from all across the world now, which is really cool. Oh! Dean and I also celebrated our 4 year anniversary on Feb 13. We went to this beautiful Indian restaurant in Gangnam that is translated into "Flower Water." Really, really great evening. Ok, pictures from this week. The three college roommates! Our hair colors look nice together.
