Lead by Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye, Korea’s MBC Channel’s popular drama Coffee Prince broadcasted Episode 17 Finale on the 26th August. Unfortunately, ratings were unable to break 30%, only reaching 27.7%. MBC has already expressed interest in filming a sequel , but because Gong Yoo is enlisting for the army within the year, he may not be able to participate in the sequel. The night before, Coffee Prince’s actors and staff went to some Charcoal beef restaurant in Seoul for celebration party and to watch the finale together. On the night, bills were paid by female lead, Yoon Eun Hye. She and Gong Yoo both really liked CP, EH said “This drama was natural, simple and honest. On the filming sites, the atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant/cheerful. Even though I had to cross-dress in the drama, giving up the chance to pretty myself, it was because of my natural dress up that lead to even more love from the public.” Gong Yoo says: “I never even thought that the drama’s ratings would be able to border 30%, everyone really likes this drama, EH and I both felt that even if ratings performance wasn’t that good, it definitely is an outstanding drama. During my time filming the drama, it never felt like i was going to work, more like going to have fun. It’s been a while since i’ve had fun to this happy extent! So I need to thank EH and the director.” Gong Yoo also announced: “CP might be my last work of art/creation before I serve in the army, even though i’ve already received notice that i’m to enlist in October, but it might get postponed. However, at the lastest, i will still enlist within the year.” Aside from this, alot of viewers wish for a sequel, even helping the channel in brainstorming ideas - pointing towards YEH’s Eunchan to become the “2nd store”’s boss. I'll be waiting oh so eagerly for "Coffee Princess". I agree that you can add in new cast but make sure retain the old ones. If it takes 5years for GY to do the sequel...so be it!! The production should wait!

They definitely need to wait for Gong Yoo.. otherwise i won't be the same, but sadly, with one of the coffee prince boys gone, it will be challenging to find someone to replace him....

i think they will wait GY back from military..cos it's hard 2 find someone who good like him..or maybe?..whose good same as him?
woo maybe we should make a suggestion to them....but i think better not cos CP without GY like coffee without creamer...

i was anticipating for a sequel..but it will be too bad if the original cast aren't there..i mean, coffee prince ain't cofee prince w/o them..!!!!

no one can replace any of the characters from the first season. is they do then nothing will be the same and everything isn't going to ever be the same anymore. I think that all the fans will be sad if Gong Yoo is replaced by some other guy and i know i would be sad because he's a really good actor.

Only Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye could make a possible season 2. Without any of the original cast -- it's nothing... so i agree with all of what are earlier posted here. We are willing to wait for GY till he comes back from his military service.. If CP is the last drama he made before he entered, it is but right that CP2 is the first drama he would make when comes back. It is the best come back drama for him!

THAT'S RIGHT!!!NO GONG YOO AND YEH, NO SEASON 2!!! they're the best couple that has ever been in a korean rom-com series..PLEEEEAAAASSSSSEEE...DON'T CREATE SEASON 2 IF IT'S NOT THE SEASON 1 CHARACTERS WHO WILL PERFORM..you can add,but never change the characters..they're the ones who made this series a very big hit..they have a very natural bonding,as if it's a reality show or sumthing..

MBC should not plan a sequel if there's no Goong Yoo at all. It's Useless. Viewers and Fans would definitely want to see Eun Hye and Goong Yoo again together. for they love them both in Season 1 and will definitely would want them on season 2 also. I'm willing to wait for goong yoo. If he's still going to be back in Acting after his service in military. I would love to see him again act on screen.

Without Gong Yoo.......without the original cast........i dun think it is worth trying for sequel.
I am not sure about Korea Military rules, what is the chance that Gong Yoo can still casting in a drama while still serving the military????

without gong yoo the sequel won't be that good.. it would be awesome if they would wait for gong yoo before they think of doing a sequel...

if they make a sequel with out gong yoo i am going to hurt someone. i agre,, ususally sequels ruin the original drama but the entire original cast is there then i have faith

If ALL of the original cast in still in then a sequel would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
there're still many things they haven't explore in the story line.
the ending can be open ended in someway so therefore i think the story could continue. but the fact that everyone now know about Eun being a girl, i think the sequel would definitely be focus on something else.
manager Hong still not really over his ex. waffle guy is open to new relationship but we heven't seen much of it. ming yoep and eunchan's sis are just adorable, i would love to see more of them. And our main couple....well...we still haven't see the wedding yet. tand after 2 yrs of seperation, who knows what's gonna happen.

In my opinion, sequels really ruin the original dramas. I would only watch sequels if they're super duper awesome or something like that. But in this case, without Gong Yoo, I don't think I would even think about watching it. It won't really the same if GY is missing. Oh wells. IF they do make a sequel I hope that it'll be superly fantastic and amazing so the perfect image of Coffee Prince in my mind won't change because usually sequels make me like the drama less.
