Her Background

Ri In was born in Sichuan and her parents were violinists so she grew up with classical music. At just three years old she began to learn the violin. Her parents took her to many of their concerts, exposing her to a variety of music.
Ri In developed the ability to sing a song after hearing it once. She showed this ability when she sang 'My Heart Wll Go On' by Celine Dion when she was 9 years old.
As she grew older, Ri In took more interest in pop music rather than classical music. Her parents were very much against pop music so she had to seceretly listen to it. At 12 years old she scored the best grade with her violin talents. Although she was so talentedly skilled with the violin, she wanted to be a singer instead. Her parents eventually began to support her dream to become a singer. She gained confidence when she was selected as the top 10 teenager sings in a singing competition

She was discovered by SM Entertainment at the age of 13 and went under singing and dance training for three years and discovered her R&B voice.
