A smile that melts women's hearts and acting skills that are unmatchable - it's actor Lee Byung-hun!

He doesn't like formalities, so the days that he dresses up in a suit and tie can be counted on your fingers. But today Lee's got one a suit on because it's an important day for him - we're at the premiere of his tenth movie!

Lee Byung-hun is famous for checking out every last detail in the scenarios of his movies. And this time he's chosen to take part in a horror movie. A joint Korea-China-Japan production called "Three monster".
Ever since high school, Lee has dreamed of being (in the movies as) a director. And in this movie, his wishes come true!

After his first steps into showbiz in 1991 as a TV star, he was a bit hit, but when he turned to movies, he wasn't as lucky. His first 4 movies were not very successful.
Until! - He met the director Park Chan-wook who helped him get back on his feet with the movie "JSA". And their great partnership grew from there!

With the popularity of his movies, Lee overcame the slump in his career and regained his confidence. At first he played very straight characters like teachers and soldiers, but now that it's been a decade since his debut, he's ready to try something a little different~.

No one can deny that he's an attractive guy, but his talent placed him as number one on directors' lists as top choice for lead roles because he had the mental power and focus to channel his emotions for every scene.
It worked! In his drama "All-in", his ratings were sky high!
No matter how rough it was to film day after day, Lee Byung-hun's a survivor.

A decade may seem like a long time, but for this actor, there are still many characters and transformations he has yet to challenge as an actor.

It's Lee Byung-hun’s sincerity in his productions that his audiences look forward to. And he doesn't plan on letting them down!

(Acting isn't only work for him; it also gives him tremendous joy and deep serenity.) That is what shines through in his work. We look forward to his next great production venture!

Lee Byung-Hun takes an acting break

The Korean actor becomes a taxi driver!

In the competitive and highly-perfectionist world of acting, it is not uncommon for actors to take on regular, everyday jobs as practice and preparation for a movie role. But for a famous artiste to put his acting career on hold indefinitely so he can take on a regular, everyday job... now that's just simply unheard of! But that's what Korean actor LEE BYUNG-HUN decided he would do.

In a recent interview, the Korean star told journalists that he had become ataxi driver, working the graveyard shift. He also revealed that in the one month since he had begun his new occupation, he had only been recognised by one passenger. Either Lee's been doing a good job of disguising himself, or his passengers have all been too drunk to notice.

According to reports, his recent urge to give up his day job began after he finished shooting the film Dalkomhan Insaeng. That was when Lee borrowed a taxi from a friend and decided to give the cab driver's life a shot. Driving all around the streets and alleyways of Seoul, the actor chose the midnight shift so he could avoid being recognised by his fans, and always wore a cap to disguise himself.

He is quoted as saying: "I wanted to look for a jobthat is totally different from an artiste's so I could rest and recall what it felt like to be an ordinary person. This has been an unforgettable experience. I have chatted with passengers from all walks of life, and I've gained a lot from the experience. I've learnt a lot about society and heard the latest updates on all kinds of subjects, all this knowledge of which can only help me in my acting." Hmmm, well it's good to know he's planning on returning to acting...

Since making his debut in the television drama Asphalt My Hometown in 1991, Lee has risen quickly to become one of Korea's more famous actors. His role in Bungee Jumping of Their Own made the critics sit up and take notice, and it certainly didn't hurt that he speaks English, French and Mandarin, in addition to his mother-tongue, Korean.

According to research conducted by an American magazine, the 36-year-old and fellow actor JEON JI-HYUN also have the kind of Asian features that are most sought after in Hollywood, so it's no surprise really, that jis management company are planning to bring their artiste over to the bis U.S of A. Besides the exposure and opportunity to build his fan-base, who knows, Lee just might make it big in Hollywood yet.
