NHK to prepare a special edition about Korean actor Lee Byung-hun on August 6

As Japan NHK prepares a special edition about Korean actor Lee Byung-Hun on August 6, his phase within Japan is being embossed once again.

For this, NHK's documentary team had an intensive interview with him by visiting Korea two times. This special edition about Korean actor Lee Byung-Hun contains his activity at the Cannes International Film Festival etc. on late May as well as interviews with world-famous movie-directors and famous producers.

After airing the first part of a documentary about Lee Byung-Hun during approx. 15 minutes, NHK plans to broadcast Korean drama 'All-in' starring Lee Byung-hun. Following its first part, the Japanese broadcasting station is designing to air the second part of its documentary from 11:50 a.m. during 50 minutes.

A person concerned at Player Entertainment said that Lee Byung-hun is the first time that NHK illuminates a popular star with a form of a documentary program like this. This official added: "An interview in which a startling famous movie director raves Lee Byung-Hun, will be aired, but because of a contract condition with NHK, I can't reveal for the present who he is."

Lee made his debut in 1991, starring in the drama 'Asphalt My Hometown". Lee's later movie, JSA - Joint Security Area, was a success, and surpassed the box-office benchmark set by Shiri.

After Lee's role in Bungee jumping of their own, his acting talent gathered widespread recognition. In 2002, Joongdok was predicted as other well-known movie for Lee after the Bunjee Jumping Of Their Own.

Lee has recently played a part in the movie Everybody has Secrets with Choi Ji-woo, Choo Sang-mi and Kim Hyo-jin, a movie about three sisters that fall in love with Lee Soo-hyon . Soo-hyon falls in love with one of the sisters, leaving the other two heartbroken.

The movie has reached a very high bid of US$5.50 million in Japan. In 2005, Lee released his biographies Limited, Brave and Human during his visit to Singapore, a 3-series DVD collection that talked about his acting career and his interviews.

NHK documentary about Lee Byung-heon draws 12 million viewers

A recent NHK documentary about hallyu star Lee Byung-heon riveted more than 12 million Japanese viewers to their TV sets, recording viewer ratings of 9 percent. Entitled “All About Actor Lee Byung-heon,” this special documentary aired Aug. 6 on NHK. The first part of the program was shown from 10:40 PM for 15 minutes, and was followed by the series “All In,” starring Lee. The second part, lasting 45 minutes, aired later that night at 11:50 PM.

NHK is considering rerunning the show, as the broadcaster has been flooded with requests for reruns since the show went on the air.

NHK devoted more than four months to producing the program, which describes the actor’s life in an unusual way.
