Arashi (嵐, Japanese for storm), is a Japanese five-member boy band under Johnny & Associates. They made their debut in September 1999 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. The group was signed to the Pony Canyon record label from 1999 to 2001, (which released their first singles (A-RA-SHI to Jidai) and their first album, ARASHI ICHIGOU: Arashi wa Arashi wo Yobu) before they transitioned forward to Johnny's Associates-powered J-STORM record label in 2002, producing their future singles and future albums until today.

Trivia Fact:He joined the company on October 16, 1995 at the age of 14 and began his activities as part of the Johnny's Jrs. In March of 1999, he became part of the group Musical Academy, but later dropped out and together with Matsumoto Jun, Kazunari Ninomiya, Aiba Masaki and Shō Sakurai, debuted as Arashi in Hawaii in September of 1999. Ohno is the leader of Arashi, not because he is the oldest member, but because he won a round of jankenpon (rock-paper-scissors) against Sho Sakurai.

Trivia Fact: Aiba joined Johnny's Jimusho for two reasons:
1. He is a huge Ken Miyake fan
2. He has a huge obsession with basketball. He saw Johnny's idols (SMAP) playing basketball on the TV "I Love SMAP", and thought that he'd get to play basketball with them if he joined. After asking some female classmates for their advice, he sent an application to join. It was not until he was asked to audition did Aiba realize Johnny's Jimusho trained young boys to dance and sing.

oooh i love me some arashi! i'm not like a HUGE fan or anything i just can't deny the awesomeness that is sho sakurai... and i like matsujun v. entertaining onscreen same goes for kazunino who i can't wait to see in iwo jima... anyways, music-wise pretty standard JE boygroup really but at least they're not being pretentious abt it and i did enjoy the performance on countdown yes even with the bright pink suits... one of the younger groups that i actually like...

yea. same here. i didn't know who's who until recently until i looked up them up on youtube. their songs are cute. i really love jun's solo. the song La Familia he even wrote it. its about Arashi. I think Ohno has crazy dancing skills!!


i'm also watching Hana Yori Dango 2 too. thats where i first heard of Arashi and Jun. But i think Ongur Shun is better!! haha X]

I'm not really into Arashi as a group but I really like Jun, Nino and Sho.
Jun is one of my favorite Japanese actors. I like all of his characters, especially Shin from Gokusen.
Nino is so adorable. Makes me want to pinch his cheeks all the time.
And Sho...he's so smart! Plus, I really like him in Kisarazu Cat's Eye =)
Their songs are pretty good and I can't wait for their "Love So Sweet" single! "Wish" is also good too ^^

I really like Sho and Aiba. I used to like Matsujun but he seems like such a perfectionist and so cold that it makes me cringe sometimes. I like Sho because even though he's freaking smart, he doesn't mind acting like an idiot sometimes and has a sense of humor... haha. And he seems a little spoiled too since he's from a rich family. I like Aiba because he's such a loveable dork and so funny. He's really good with kids too and doesn't mind when they poke fun at him ("they" being anybody and everybody). LOL.

I don't know if you've ever seen but during the Johnny's countdown once V6 got Golden suits that looked like space outfouts with golden feathers on their back and side...

I've liked arashi since their debut, i'm so excited to see Nino in the Iwo Jima movie and off course currently Jun in hana yori dango 2.
