Oh and if you know, could anyone tell me what the hula does and is good for?

it's supposed help get rid of a pot belly.
if that thing worked,
everyone would have one
and would be all over soompi and the news.
my mom bought one,
and i honestly don't know how it'd work.
just go for a jog if you want to lose weight or something..

My advice is to be prepared for the pain. I actually have one because i didn't think it was that expensive so I got one. The instruction says to do it for 20 mins and over because then your body will start to burn fat and not the sugars. However, I couldn't even last 10 mins. it's soooooo painful. I barely did 10 min... resting like every 20-30 revolution of the hula hoop because it hurts so much. The pain isn't there for the 1-2 secs, then it spreads. Kinda feels like when you bump yourself on the corner of something and the first instant it doesn't hurt but 2 secs later it's so painful. All that pain was only during the process. After... I felt like I've been doing situps for an hour. Not only does my tummy hurt, but my back hurts a lot too. Even when I walk it hurts...==''. After 2 days of the pain, I was determined to try agian, but I realized there's this gigantic bruise, all purple and brown on the left side of my waist. I think it's abour the size of a golf ball. The instructions already warns of bruising, but I didn't know it would be so bad. Maybe I'll have to wait a bit longer before I'll try agian.

I'm with enli10 on this one..just jog, it's better than anything else out there..and it's FREE! My mom bought one of those hulas....those are just excuses to give yourself bruises and look stupid while getting them. I promise on everything that the only way those can/do work for anyone is because that's their form of cardio...painful but whatever floats their boat. I'd say go for the jog.

it does hurt a bit b/c it's reallllly heavy. I only bruised around my hip bones but it's good to use every now and then b/c it massages your belly. i prefer running but the hula hoop is a good twist to your workout. smile.gif

i think the effects of the hula hoop depends on each person. since everyone's not the same, obviously the results won't be the same either.

i only had mines for a month and there's no dramatic results yet, but i can see my waist is slimming down.
(note that i did it for at least 20 minutes or more almost everyday!) =P
you'll get bruises on the first days using it but it will eventually go away and you'll get used to it.

another thing to remember is to equally hula hoop both ways. counter and clockwise. i've been doing it counter clockwise most of the time and i could tell that my right side is more curved in than my left! haha.. so i do it the other way now to even it out.

You're not supposed to do over 3 minutes the first & second time. You shouldve stopped if it hurted that much. It's really painful at first but now I can do it for 10 minutes [& i dont go over 10 minutes].
I can feel the results after I do it, too. Like my tummy feels leaner, it feels like I just did 40-50 sit ups.
If you get bruises, it's simply because you went over 3 minutes when you still couldnt handle the pain. I didn't get bruises my first time, nor my 2nd time, or any time after that.

It works.

The way you could tell is if you do it ONLY in one direction everyday for 2 weeks.
You could really see a difference in the curvature.

OKAY.
But it hurts like *#$*())(#@).
Words cannot describe the pain I was in for the first couple of days.
But it was well worth it.

Beauty is pain I must admit.

BUT! you should jog for better results.
but...
I skipped periods everytime I used it
So ... I don't its healthy.

Hmms, that's strange o_O;;
Well I had one last year and I used it everyday for around 20-30 minutes. And suree, the first time I used it my waist hurt a bit, but then I put on a sweatshirt and it helped ease the pain x) But for me, it really slimmed me down o_x; Ehe, and then I stopped because my sister took it apart and destroyed it x_x;;;;; But I bought one again this afternoon. Haha, it's really useful...for me at least ~

I tried it out 2 summers ago. It did work but it hurts/tickles your stomach a lot x_x If you can handle the pain then it's worth it since the results are pretty good. I should go back to using it instead of leaving it in the garage for decoration ph34r.gif
