i've just recently found out about this band. i saw their MV for 'i bet you look good on the dancefloor' and searched for some other songs. i've now got the album and think its great.
my fave songs are 'when the sun goes down' , 'fake tales of san fransisco' 'dancing shoes' and 'a certain romance'.

anyone else like them?

their song 'i bet you look good on the dance floor' is alright but the mv kind of gave me a head ache. I really liked 'a certain romance' though!

Yup, they've been underground for quite some time now. Instead of making a demo hoping to get signed though, they decided to do it on their own by posting their songs on Myspace and all over the Internet and that's how they got BIG. Pretty inspiring, huh? Chris Martin from Coldplay is a huge fan of their's.

yeah, amazing that after all these internet downloads that people still go out and buy their album. they had the biggest selling album in UK history with over 300,000 copies sold in the first week. absolutely mad.
i liked the MV for 'dancefloor'. it was great having the drummer as backing vocalist....not many of them around these days.
hopefully they come to australia and play.....they seem like an awesome live band.
love the line '...and oh he's up to summat...'

its great having a band with such young musicians, playing music that reaches out to a lot fo people.
they are being labelled the next oasis, or the next big band of the decade. woudl u guys agree on that? the arctic monkeys being decade-defining?

their MV was very different and cheap to shoot. they wanted a 1970s feel to it and thought they did a brilliant job. if you go to YouTube and look up Arctic Monkeys u can see the new MV for 'when the sung goes down' and 'Fake tales of san fransisco'.
or go to www.arcticarmy.com to check out some studio clips.

I like their music. I've been downloading some of their songs this week. It's great how they became really popular just from the internet and posting their own songs.

^ sorry to keep asking all about where-to-buy , but is nme on sale in aus ? >_<; apologies again .

i've seen arctic monkeys a bit on rage , and they're really popular in the radio charts at the moment , so i was a bit hesitant to get into them , becauase i'm generally wary of chart-toppers . they are really talented though , and i might give them a bit more of a listen - it's not their fault they're popular , is it .

lol, its okay EMA. yes NME is on sale in Australia. you cna find them at your newsagents but Borders is the place to go for music mags. they've got stuff from MOJO to Rolling Stone to Guitar Player. Borders is a very reliable source for magazines! the onyl thing they don't have is Q Mag....disappointing.

Arctic Monkeys are huge in europe at the moment. too bad they havne't broken into the Austrlian market just yet, but hopefully they will be just as successful! i find that many UK bands are having the most trouble getting into the American market.....

australia seems similar to the american market in that it's not really open to "alternative" stuff from outside . europe seems more into it . or maybe that's just the perception . from me .

i'm living in loserville , cannot find me nme anywhere . to borders i go .
