I got my eyes done on Monday in Madu, Korea. As soon as I'll have my complete portfolio, I'll post my experience and pictures. smile.gif

I'm going to Taiwan over the summer to get mine done. I e-mailed the doctor, and he told me that the operation is 25000 TWD, so about $800.
Is this a reasonable price?

It's good to let them know so they know that your card number hasn't been stolen (sometimes the credit card company will block a transaction if made overseas)...also, it'd be a good idea to ask if there are fees associated with using your credit card overseas (they call it a "currency conversion fee").

Ahh...I found a good website that explains everything:
http://www.overseasdigest.com/using-credit-card-abroad.htm

But I don't get how it works, how will they remember what you tell them lol?

Either way, it's always best to pay cash because you get a discount. Most places do so since they are charged if you pay with a credit card. I got 20% off.
If you must use a credit card, yes you have to call your credit card company to advise them that you will be using your card overseas, otherwise, they will block your transaction. It happened to me yesterday. The credit company called back home all the way in Canada to double check if there's a fraud going on.

So I had a consultation with Dr. Kwan in NYC and he seems like a nice guy. I've been reading about him being a bit cold and very get-down-to-business... and its a little true. He does say what needs to be said and he's polite. I also trust him because he has 15 years of experience and he does around eight procedures a day! He's really into making eyelids look natural as possible, which is a good thing. I'm really looking forward to having my consultation with Dr. Choe though. It was super easy to get a consultation with Dr. Kwan - doesn't that mean he's not as booked and in demand as Dr. Choe? I don't know - but everyone was pretty nice there. Nothing amazing but it was alright.

I'm finally posting my ~2 year scar pictures

Forgive the obscene no foundation pictures/finals week eyes...my skin is so uneven due to sun damage.

As you can see...you can't see any scarring (unless you're REALLY looking for it)...which is terrific...smile.gif

hmm...looks like I need to trim my brows...and eyecream.

hi! hope you dont mind me asking.. how high (mm) is your crease?

well...from years of being in different facets of retail, I can just assume that they put it in your records. ie, when you talk to any customer service rep at like, verizon, they can record (typed up on a computer) any conversations/situations you've had with them. So the next time your account/record is brought up, they'll (any CSR) see it. It's called technology.

But if they don't give you a discount, it's better to pay with card, because apparently you get a lower exchange rate.

Though I don't advise walking around a foreign country with a wad of cash in your wallet. Cause if you lose it/it gets stolen...it sucks. I'd honestly rather lose my credit card (or have it stolen) than lose a lot of cash (cause once cash is gone, you're screwed).

^ BK is pretty famous but the more famous it is, the more expensive it is also.
You pay for their advertisement and their grandiose looking clinic.

Double eyelid surgery is very common around here. There are clinics almost every two blocks.
Visit a few, ask to see their portfolio and chose the one you feel most comfortable with. smile.gif
You can also check afterwards to see their reviews on the internet.

I went to a clinic that wasn't THAT known, but the doctor had 17 years of experience and had also performed surgery on actors and singers. (Stars don't necessarily go to the most famous clinic for plastic surgery)

The important thing overall is to choose a doctor you feel comfortable with. smile.gif
Make sure you visit at least 2-3 places too!

What do your eyes feel like after you have double eyelid surgery?

Does it feel normal, i.e. you don't feel the fold at all, or does it feel like you're always wearing tape?

when I opened my eyes really wide, for the first week or so, it felt weird having the skin touching each other at the fold since I wasnt used to that. But you get used to it. And to be able to see more (since my view isnt blocked so much by my lids) when i opened my eyes wide was interesting...haha.

So is it best to give them a call when I am there? Or should I just tell them before I leave town? I think probably better to tell them in person right? Since the people in the bank always likes to see your face when doing any transactions or talking with you.
