lol It's really funny cause Keira talks about that in interviews about P&P. She wasn't allowed to wear makeup or anything thaht would really show her beauty, and, at one point, she almost lost her hair cause it burned off during hair and makeup (which is why she cut it short after). It's really cute when she talks about it and how desperate she was for the role, only to be turned down cuase she's too beautiful to be Elizabeth.
But, she's gotten really good reviews, and, though I'm not a fan of the book, I did enjoy the BBC series and hope to see this. (: And I adore Keira Knightley. I think she's so gorgeous and so talented. ^^V -------------------- |

Hey, I read somewhere that Hana Yori Dango (you guys are probably already familiar with this. If not, it's the Japanese story Meteor Garden was based on) was inspired by Pride and Prejudice. I can definitely see that! Both girls initially despise the guy and find out later on that there's actually more to them than that, that they actually have hearts of gold.

i like the book but i'm not so thrilled abt keira knightley being casted as elizabeth bennet coz i always thought she doesn't have that very classic face...well i dunno maybe she's a damn good actress.

nope. I hate the victorian period and movies and books that revolve around it. I don't know why, but maybe because when I was younger my mother used to rent boring love stories about women falling in love with a man above her "Class" and it always took place during the victorian era.

^ no, it's the regency era!!! thanks for the pics, ted! too early to tell, but i like brenda blethyn as mrs. bennet and i think keira knightley looks just right. i'm not convinced she's a great actress, but in this movie, she even has that thing going on, like in the book, where sometimes she looks gorgeous and sometimes she doesn't.

Editing of the plot doesn't bother me as much as pandering to contemporary sensibilities about romance, you can see it in the commercials... Not too impressed with the guy. I love the miniseries version with Colin Firth. Funny how he plays "Mr. Darcy" in Bridget Jones' Diary too.

^ agreed!!
I never wanted to see this movie at all, but my friend nagged me to go along. (learned never say never...) All I can say is dont... DONT watch it. I sat through the movie seeing the background and the detail they went through. Didnt even bother with most of what's being said. Though I was a lil surprised when I didnt really hear the proper English language being used at times. I mean modern terms were used instead. Watch the BBC version instead, you will not regret. Instead, you'll probably kick yourself for not getting it should you watch this one first and the BBC later. I can hear the disappointment in my friend's voice after I lend her the DVD to watch. |
