yay arashi.
i miss watching mago mago arashi.
i think they are the sweetest to go to people's homes and help take care of them.
it gets me to think that they aren't all about glamour and fame, and are really down-to-earth people.
well, they are still cool. i hope there are more posts on youtube for their recent concerts.
it's so nice when the fans sing along their songs.

Does anyone else think that this is definitely Arashi's year? I mean the last two years~ especially last year, they were doing really really well, but I think they're at the height of their career right now and their popularity keep rising like crazy. I mean, Love So Sweet was the 4th highest selling single last year (the highest of any JE group) and their One Love single just became the highest selling single this year. And Arashi's exposure is crazy too- they're like everywhere. They host 3 variety shows (Arashi no Shukudai-kun, Vs Arashi, and Himitsu no Arashi-chan) and will be the main caster for this year's 24 hr Terebi. I just saw the promo for this and I was bawling my eyes out. Not to mention the individual member's work, Matsu Jun with his movie, Ohno with his drama, Nino with his upcoming drama, Sho with News Zero and Beijing Olympic main caster, and Aiba is his animal variety show. Then there's the crazy out sold out concerts- they had a five dome tour ealier this year and next month will start their second Asian tour which will include Seoul, Taipei, and Shanghai.

I haven't been back to Japan for a while now, so I not sure who's the most popular JE group at the moment- I think it might still be Kat-tun~ Kat-tun was huge when they first debuted but seems like their sales have been slowing down since then. In the meanwhile, Arashi's popularity and exposure are getting insane so I think it's very likely that they will take the top spot soon.
elizabeth
^ Not to mention, Kanjani8 is really popular since they did their 47 tour last year and their sales are really good too but anyway, I just saw Truth and Kaze no Mukou e PV and both are really good. In Truth, they finally dance again. I haven't seen them dance like that for a while.

arashi is number one again.
that's cool. their concerts must be crazy fun because of the energy.
i've always loved arashi's vibe. they're not the giddy give-me-attention sort of artists.
i respect their down-to-earth attitude. at first, i was thinking they look so bored.
but their personality and they way they talk with each other is so chill.
they should keep on being number one.

Fantastic news!
Truth/Kaze no Mukou e has sold an estimated 467,000 copies in its first week alone.

This is the greatest first-week sales for all singles released so far this year, beating the previous record of 382,000 set by KAT-TUN's Don't You Ever Stop.

One Love has also managed to sell 492,000 copies and is now the TOP-SELLING single so far this year!
While Truth/Kaze no Mukou e is currently in 2nd spot. biggrin.gif

nice. arashi is having another single released.
i hope the video comes out soon after.

it's also nice to see that their style have matured so much.
i like that they've kept the natural dark hair which fits them all very well.

is ninomiya's new tv series strictly drama or could it be comedy?
i think it would be fun to see them acting in a serious comedy film. say, ohno.

good luck to arashi and their concerts.
i'd like to see the previews of them and see how they are doing.
it seem that they recieve warm welcomes in many places.
i hope they plan to perform in america in the near future.

Arashi article in Korea Times

J-pop Idols Arashi Returns in November
By Cathy Rose A. Garcia
Staff Reporter

Japanese idol group Arashi returns to Seoul for a series of concerts in November as part of its Asian tour.

One of the most popular J-pop groups in Korea, Arashi will hold concerts Nov. 1-2 at the Olympic Fencing Stadium, Olympic Park, southern Seoul.

The ``Arashi Around Asia" tour kicked off Sept. 5 with the group's first outdoor concert at the National Stadium, Tokyo. Arashi will perform in Taipei, Taiwan Oct. 11-12, and Shanghai, China Nov. 15.

Arashi first performed in Korea in September 2006, as Japan's representative to the 2006 Asia Song Festival in Gwangju. The group returned in November of the same year for four sold-out concerts at Olympic Hall.

Arashi, one of the idol groups under Johnny's Entertainment, was formed in 1999. Arashi, which means storm in Japanese, is composed of Masaki Aiba, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya, Satoshi Ohno and Sho Sakurai.

This year, Arashi completed their first ``dome" tour, holding concerts at dome stadiums in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo. The ``Arashi Marks 2008 Dream-A-live" reportedly attracted a total audience of 440,000.

Arashi released their eighth studio album ``Dream-A-Live," which debuted at number one on the Oricon charts. Also this year, the group released three single albums, ``Step and Go," ``One Love" and ``Truth/ Kaze no Mukou e," as well as a concert DVD ``Summer Tour 2007 ― Final Time."

The group's members are also hosts of weekly television shows such as ``VS Arashi" and ``Arashi's Secret." Aside from their activities as a group, members also appear individually in dramas, movies and television shows.

Matsumoto gained fans around Asia for his role as Tsukasa Domyouji in ``Boys Over Flowers," a drama adaptation of the Japanese comic of the same name. He starred in films such as ``Tokyo Tower" and the remake of Akira Kurosawa's ``Hidden Fortress."

Ninomiya, also an actor, received critical acclaim for his role in Clint Eastwood's Oscar-nominated film ``Letters From Iwo Jima." He has appeared in several Japanese dramas such as ``Dear Father," and played an autistic marathon runner in the Japanese TV movie ``Marathon," based on the hit Korean film of the same name.

Sakurai, a graduate of Keio University, is also a news anchor on NTV's News Zero. He played the lead role in the film ``Honey & Clover," and will star in the live action film version of the anime series ``Yatterman."

Ohno recently appeared in the Japanese remake of the Korean drama ``The Devil," while Aiba is a co-host of the show ``Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen."

Arashi will have three concerts Nov. 1 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and one concert Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. Tickets, which go on sale Aug. 24, are 88,000 won. Visit www.auction.co.kr (Korean only).

^ I really love the covers, the color schemes are nice. And I'm loving Boku ga boku no subete from their new single. I think I like it even better than Beautiful Days~ but both songs are really good. Actually, all of their singles released these past few years have been really good. And after 9 long years, I'm so happy that Arashi is finally getting the fame and recognition they so deserved.

Here's an article that I just read and found to be really interesting. I didn't know Arashi was so popular in Korea, but it seems like they are. I was surprise at how much their concert tickets go for in Korea, but not totally surprise since their concert tickets can go for up to $1000 or $2000 in Japan.

credit: http://arashi.vox.com/library/post/article...now-arashi.html

ARTICLE : Mom, Don't you even know Arashi?!

this is from a korean news article...there's something in here that may make you go EH? x:

Housewife Mrs. Choi has gone to war on the internet twice, in order to buy concert tickets.

It was for the Japanese idol group, "Arashi" which she had never heard of before. She furiously pounded on her keyboard on the 15th and the 24th for first come tickets in place of her daughter who had gone to prep school. In order to raise her chances she also asked help from her relatives but in the end it was ZERO. They say the chances of getting tickets were 1/10, so it was understandable. Her daughter who said, "I need you to get me the tickets no matter what," in which Mrs. Choi replied, "Who in the world is Arashi for me to be going through all this trouble?!"

If one is a parent that wants to be on the same "chord" as their children by memorizing the members' names from groups such as TVXQ, Big Bang, Shinee, then it seems one must add in Arashi as well. The "Arashi Commotion" that arose this time shows how popular Arashi is in Korea at the moment.

First round ticketing which started on the 24th of last month at 8pm was was completely sold out whithin 30 minutes, all 15,000 tickets. 15,000 people all signed on at the same tme. Even the 1,000 seats that were added, were compeltely sold out within 5 minutes. In order to appease fans' irritation another concert was added on the night of the 15. Although there was an additional 6,600 seats, within approximately 10 minutes everything was sold out again. Basically, this concert for 4 shows of 26,000 seats, sold out within an hour. Even though the concert business has come to a deadly stop, this concert was able to sell out without any promotion. During the 2006 Arashi Korea concert ticketing was also a war. 12,000 seats sold out within an hour. The illegal dealing of tickets sold for approximately 300,000WON ($300) to 400,000 ($400).

Arashi is one of Japanese best idol groups. They are under the management of Johnny's which specializes in all male groups such as SMAP. Starting with leader Ohno Satoshi (28), Matsumoto Jun (25), Ninomiya Kazunari (25), Aiba Masaki (26), Sakurai Sho (26), all five members are prospering in dramas and movies. Debuting in 1999, just about all the songs they debut reach 1st place on the Oricon charts. This year they were able to successfully finish 5 dome concerts as well. In order to finish a dome tour which houses approximately 40,000 people each, it means they are the best of best amongst Japanese singers. The Arashi Tour that already started last month has already gathered 222,000 people.

The fact that the Arashi Commotion is happening amongst youngsters is sign of the Japanese boom getting larger. Although Japanese movies and novels have been gaining popularity within Korea, and Japanese remakes have been gathering attention, in the commercial business sense they were not able to make a big hit. Because of this the success of Arashi's concert this time around, it cannot be denied the potential and the definite success of the Japanese Boom.

MBS Radio's Nam Tae Jung PD said, "Just like the Japanese animation convention that was able to be held in Sung Hwang Ri, it's proof that the Japanese Boom is rooted deeply within the younger generation."

The department chief of Pony Canyon Korea Jo Ji Hyun said, "The way a Japanese idol matures along with their fans starting from their junior days, is an amazing thing. There are many Korean fans that prefer Japanesese idols instead of the Korean idols that debut perfected."

It is estimated that there is more than 200,000 fans in Korea. There are also many fans that go all the way to Japan in order to see Arashi in concert. The age range of fans is very diverse from anywhere in the teens to 30's. It seems Johnny's has been encouraged by Arashi's popularity in Korea therefore they will be seriously entering the Korean market. A Johnny's Korean company will open their doors shortly.

korean con highlights LAST SHOWS

i've watched quite a few arashi shows...and i have to say...the 3rd performance of the korea con was SO amazing. the last was amazing too but the 3rd show was absolutely crazy! i've never seen nino's tension SO high! also i've never seen jun lying down for so long either x: the best part ... in taiwan from what i remember, when they sang arashi they sang the whole song and didn't hand the mic over to the fans, but in korea they let the fans sing the ending with them biggrin.gif but then there were a lot of times where the fans were singing so loud that you barely heard the members. the shows were so amazing, the guys' tension were so high, it was just amazing. i can't describe how exciting and high the tension was. one of the best things is that aiba's popularity in korea skyrocked in the last year so there were SO MANY screams for aiba and it was obvious he was really enjoying it. anyway i can talk about how awesome the concert was all day long but i won't. instead the fun events. this is a mix of the talk from 3rd and 4th shows smile.gif

*they wanted to know how they changed in age since 2 years ago. so the fans decided nino is 11 (someone said 4) and then aiba is 23 (he was happy he was younger than his real age), ohno 16 (he was totally surprised), jun 20 (he said his haircut madeh im younger, but they cut his bangs way too short. when they said 20 jun started flattening his bangs and making expression from his jr days! crazy cute), and then sho 20 (sho was like 'i knew 30 was weird' and he was like i became 10 years younger in 2 years) the really cute part was when nino turned to ohno and bows and says "senpai, onegaishimasu!!!"

*sho did this korean comedy routine. it's called "oong ee ah buh ji" which means oong ee's dad. and then the fans went CRAZY because he was doing korean comedy. so he kept doing it and the place would just go insane. it was SO loud. then they were like "oong ee's dad must be really popular" and the fans were all screaming no and then the interpreter was like "it's sho that's popular"

*the fans were yelling "nobody" after sho finished his comedy. and he asked the fans to sing wonder girls' nobody, and he started doing the dance! it was CRAZY CUTE! OMFG! hopefully the korean con is on the DVD bc it was crazy.

*the fans were calling for aiba so they decided they would A no Arashi. aiba said he hasn't done it for 2 years and he was really happy. this was right before going into one love ... but they couldn't bc the fans kept asking for the boys to do things and finally aiba was last and then the members were like "we're going to go right into the song after a no arashi okay?" and then aiba was like "the song's title isn't a no arashi" very cute

*the stadium was SO hot i mean it was REALLY bad. the fans were sweating so much but so were the members. jun was sweating like crazy and he tells the fan to fan him and so of course everyone does smile.gif

*for the very last show they did 7 encore songs and they came out 4 times biggrin.gif:D:D:D

*so they asked the fans what dramas were popular in korea lately and of course the fans reply "RYUSEI NO KISZUNA" and then they were all like ohmy.gif and of course they know we watch it illegally but they still like it x: hahah and then sho becomes a tattletale. he says aiba still hasn't watched it and aiba is running away but sho grabs him and drags him back toward the front of the stage. then sho says that he wasn't able to watch episode 1 so johnny's gave him the DVD to watch it. so sho watched it and then he passed it onto aiba who hasn't watched it either. aiba actually brought the DVD with him to korea. so the members say "since there's a DVD player in the room you watched it right" and then aiba is triyng to explain but then the members interrupt and they are like "you do know the reginal codes of japan and korea are the same right?" and then aiba is like "so like i was saying i put the DVD into the dvd player but...i couldn't read the remote so i went to sleep right away" and then jun is like "you know of course we can't read the korean but isn't the symbols universal?" and then aiba thinks and he's like "he's really smart." and jun's like "it's not that i'm smart, it's you that's stupid." and then nino asks "everyone who thinks aiba is a baka raise your hand." and all the fans raise their hand and then aiba runs out pointing at the fans and goes "i'm going to remember all of you that raised your hands!" it was SO cute

*in order to celebrate their 10 year anniversary the fans all passed around sheets of paper that said "congratulations on your 10 year anniversary" in japanese and everyone held it up. the members were totally impressed and then they said that korea was the first people to congratulate them on their 10 year anniversary

*so then they were like "so is there 1 person that is in charge of all this?" and all the fans were like NO and then aiba's like "is everyone friends" and all the fans immediately were like NO! x: hahaha ...

*during the 4th show the fans sang "happy birthday" in english for arashi for their 10 year anniversary. very loud!

*so the koreans do specific things where they call the members' name. it's really amazing bc everyone is very ONE. so they tend to start together and end together. and arashi was like "do you guys yell 'arashi arashi arashi' when you sing our songs at karaoke?" and then one of the members was like "no bc it's not arashi singing" and then another member was like "so then do you yell 'kim san kim san kim san?'" it was SO FUNNY

*the part where jun called aiba a baka after talking about the dvd thing, aiba did an imitation of a korean comedian. his name is park myung su. whenever the comedian gets mad he yells out "YAH YAH YAH" in korean which means like "HEY HEY HEY" and so when jun said that to aiba, aiba got up and started yelling "YAH YAH YAH" and then he asks "so is this the correct way to use it?" hahaha it was SO cute T_T

*nino did an imitation of the little girl from doraemon. it's the sister of doraemon when she calls him? anyway it was SO otaku and SO cute! he was so adorable!!!

*okay so lately there are talks of johnny's expanding in korea. one of the reasons i feel like this MAY BE POSSIBLE...so instead MAD arashi's back dancers was kis my ft 2 and ABC (very cute kids) and they both sang 1 song each. when they were being introduced arashi was like "they'd like to inform everyone of something" and then they advertised that they will be holding a concert in yoyogi and would like if the fans could come see them. the funny things about this is that everyone (arashi johnnys kismyft2 abc) all know that there is no way fans can legally buy tickets but they still invite all the fans to come see the concert in yoyogi hahaha

*one of the biggest highlight of the concert...omfg it was great. so kawaii kun is one of the juniors that were back dancers. the members were like 'so we hear that you do an imitation of one of our members.' so everyone knows it's jun. so jun was like "this is the first time i'll see it." so then jun goes over to the moving stage and lies down like he's lying down in his living room. then they make kawaii kun do an imitation of jun dancing WISH. kawaii kun does it. .. and the poor kid ends the dance by bowing down all the way to the floor yelling "GOMENASAI!" it was SO cute. then the fans ask them to do it together. so they stand right next to each other and do wish. but then jun isn't going all crazy. the members ask the fans who looks more like jun and the fans say kawaii and then kawaii explains that his imitation is of jun when he first danced wish. and then jun was like "then what does that make me?!"

*jun said in one of the shows "lets do a 3rd AAA tour!" and then at the last show "don't worry we'll see you again, we're going to do AAA again!"

*during one of the shows nino is standing next to sho and then nino slowly starts pulling away sho's shirt and showing sho's nipple. he finds so much joy in the fans' reaction that nino does it like 2 times!

* the members asked the fans if ohno fit the role of maoh and the fans were like YES and then ohno was like "USO DA YO!" and then he's like "demo...yokatta" it was SO cute

*jun must have said "saranghaeyo" a million times. during the 3rd show he was like "aitakattayo!" and then he said it in korean and then in the last show he was like "I MISSED YOU A LOT!" in korean. it was so cute. seriuosly they spoke SO MUCH korean it wasn't even funny.

*right when the talk was supposed to start, jun was so hot he just lied down on the moving stage as it went back to the front stage. once it got to the front stage jun lied down again and was just saying how hot it was. and then aiba suddenly goes towards jun and then sits on his stomach and before we know it aiba's face is getting closer and closer to jun's face and the fans are going crazy and then finally jun pushes aiba away last minute. then jun is sitting down normal and he's saying how it's so hot and then jun goes and gets jun's juice and towel and then he comes back and starts wiping jun down with the towel and acting like his manager and jun's just sitting there acting cool and says "arigatou" hahaha SO CUTE! so much couple love!!!

Popular Japanese pop group Arashi whipped thousands of Korean fans into a state of frenzy, as they staged four sold-out concerts in Seoul over the weekend.

It has been two years since Arashi performed in Seoul, but judging from the deafening screams at the Olympic Fencing Stadium, their fans are as crazy about them as ever. The group is in the middle of a three-city Asian tour, ``Arashi Around Asia 2008."

Arashi, composed of Masaki Aiba, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya, Satoshi Ohno and Sho Sakurai, opened the concert with ``Love So Sweet." The song was the theme song for the popular Japanese drama ``Hana Yori Dango Returns (Boys Over Flowers)."

Throughout the nearly three-hour concert, Arashi performed many of their hit songs ``Step and Go," ``Happiness," ``Kitto Daijoubu (You'll Definitely be Okay)," ``We Can Make It," and ``Truth."

Each of the members had solo performances, showing off their distinct personalities and talents. Sakura rapped and danced to ``Hip Pop Boogie, while Aiba sang a cheerful number ``Hello Goodbye." Ninomiya played the piano while singing ``Niji (Rainbow)," and Ohno showed off his smooth vocals and dance moves to ``Take Me Faraway."

Matsumoto grabbed attention when he walked upside down on the ceiling, before flipping down and performing ``Yabai Yabai Yabai."

Arashi definitely knew how to please the Korean audience. Even though they spoke mainly in Japanese, group members sprinkled their comments with Korean phrases throughout the concert. They even included Korean lyrics in some songs, such as ``A-RA-SHI."

Sakurai even showed off the Wonder Girls' dance steps for the hit song ``Nobody," while the crowd sang the lyrics.

At their last concert Sunday evening, Arashi gave four encores before finally ending with the upbeat ``Fight Song."

Fans could not seem to get enough of the Japanese group. Matsumoto promised to return for a third ``Arashi Around Asia" tour.

An estimated 30,000 fans watched the four concerts Saturday and Sunday, including several hundred Japanese fans.

Even with little promotion about the concerts, tickets sold like hotcakes, with all three concerts being sold out on Auction.com in 30 minutes. Organizers had to add another concert, which once again sold out immediately.

Arashi is one of the most popular Japanese pop groups in Korea. Matsumoto is best known for his lead role in ``Boys Over Flowers." Ohno recently appeared in the Japanese drama remake of the Korean drama `The Devil."

Aiba appears on a popular Japanese variety show. Ninomiya received critical acclaim for his role in Clint Eastwood's war movie ``Letters From Iwo Jima." Sakurai starred in the film ``Honey & Clover."

They're hilarious as always and they even sang ARASHI in Korean and Chinese. This was filmed the day after they came back from their Korean concert.

LAMASSU, I saw you on Himitsu no Arashi-chan yesterday. You're a really good dancer and your dance movements were exactly like the original. I thought your segment was hilarious- it was the most interesting segment of the entire show. And it seems like everyone, especially the members really enjoy seeing you dance. Keep up the good work.
