the thing is. korean females use the word "oppa" to almost anyone who's older than them. they don't necessarily have to be related to address someone as "oppa"
but when you translate it, it becomes older brother, and it sounds like they're direct siblings. but that's not the case, right? they're "cousins" so that's why it gets translated as "cousin"

Absolutely NO Korean says Bianhamnida or Duguseyo.

It's Mianhamnida and Nuguseyo.

The only reason why you're mistaking those sounds is because you don't know Korean that well, so that's why you're getting confused.


It's spelled 아파, so you should pronounce it apa. However, many Koreans (especially the ones with Seoul dialect) pronounce it like 아퍼 (apuh) because it's a habit. So just ignore Jiwon's comment. LOL

And let me correct Jiwon...

Dictionary forms:
아프다 - "to be sick or hurt"
다치다 - "to get hurt"

If you conjugate 아프다 to the casual/impolite form, it's 아파.


Celebs mostly do that... and they're saying "I love you" like that because it's supposedly cute. But I *have* noticed only Koreans doing that...

ㄺ example is 닭, which means chicken. it is pronounced dahk. the ㄹ is silent in this case.
but in the case of 맑은 which means clear, it is pronounced mahlguhn. The ㄹ is not silent in this case. and there is no such thing as 랂 which is the example u gave me.

When I say 미안하다 (mianhada) and when 죄송합니다 (joisonghamnida)??? Hope it's right written. Please correct if not.

you use mianhada when you talk to your friends and you say jwehsonghapnida when you talk to a person that is older than you, higher in social status or a stranger. you can sound like a fool if you use those words incorrectly. becareful =)
