안녕하세요 is a polite way of saying hello... used commonly
안녕하십니까 is also hello, but it's way more formal/polite... good to use around elders and in formal situations
by the way, both of these phrases literally mean "are you at peace?"

Thanks!
Also to chewy 117 and moonk379
One more question ^__^"
여보세요 is only said on the phone, or?

You got the first part right. However, for the second part, neun is a particle used to modify the noun. It doesn't necessarily mean "are" or "am;" it modifies the noun in a way that represents "are" or "am." That's how I see it, anyway.

는 is a topic marker..It indicates what you are talking about, it has no simple translation into English. It's like saying "as for X..."

carrie like mariah carrey would be 캐리
annie would be 애니
pei: if it's pronounced like pe-i, 페이, if it's pa-i, like pie, it's 파이.

Wouldn't you use 에 instead of 애 for transliterating Western names?

I'm not sure if there is a strict rule on this.. but usually 'e' is 에, 'a' is 애. (but 'e' isn't 에 for like.. 'English')
but I know that Carrie/Carrey is 캐리, and Annie is 애니 because Anne is 앤, not 엔.

Hm, thanks, I've never realized that. I always gets confused with it, since most people just pronounce it the same way.

hi guys!!! i need help!!
i got an email from one of my korean friends but she said she doesn't know english very well, so she typed in korean. can someone kindly please translate for me??

페니야 미안하지만 다시 한글로 쓸게. 내가 영어를 잘 못해서 답답하네^^;

hi, first time posting here...if u said something like babo chorom and babo katun, would it mean the same thing?

바보처럼 (babochŏrŏm) is "foolishly/like a fool"
For example, 바보처럼 울었다 (babochŏrŏm urŏtta) means "I cried foolishy" or "I cried like a fool."
바보같이 (babogachi) means the same thing as 바보처럼 (babochŏrŏm).

However...

바보 같은 (babo gatŭn) is "foolish" and it describes whatever word is after it
For example, 바보 같은 사람 (babo gatŭn saram) means "Foolish person."

And...

Adding 로 (ro) after a noun can mean many, many, many things.
Check this dictionary entry:
http://endic.naver.com/endic.nhn?docid=2253620

Since you said you can't write in Korean, I'm not sure if I can explain it without confusing you. You have to know how to read/write and know some basics if you want help with grammar... You know?

thanks jaeho, i think i understand the chorom/katun thing haha...

and i CAN read korean, and i know some basic grammar, i just cant type it out because i have no program on my computer which has the font..

another question....soom swi da is to breathe right? so saying 'i can breathe' would be 'soom swil su innun' right? because in the dbsk lyrics for 'tonight' they say 'soom UL swil su'...why do u need the object particle?

and whats the difference in pronunciation between the base forms of 'no', 'sit' and 'hug'? anta? anda? eh?

....thanks so much=]

Oh, oops. I misinterpreted... tongue.gif

'"I can breathe" is 숨 쉴 수 있어. 숨 쉴 수 있는 can't stand by itself; it needs something after it. Like 숨쉴 수 있는 사람 (a person who can breathe). 을 isn't needed after 숨, but you can use it to show emphasis. Dropping 을 is more common when speaking. Also, take note that 숨 is the noun and 쉬다 is the action.

앉다 (sit) and 안다 (hug) are pronounced 안따, 않다 (not) is pronounced 안타.

can somebodyhelp me with this?

is this correct?

"i really like you"

is it better to say "dangshinul jungmal choahae"
or... "nuh nomu choahae"

plus... how do you say..."I wish i could take away all the things that make you sad"

and..."please stay cheerful until i am by your side again."

thanks!

I was reading your post, and said.. wow.. this sounds really familiar.. then I realized that I helped you with this before Soompi crashed.=_____= I guess you didn't get to see it.

It's "dangshinul jungmal joahae"
You can say the 2nd sentence casually, but if you actually dissect the sentence, it's grammatically incorrect because "nuh-moo" (or nomu, you typed) means "too much", correct usage of it implies a negative tone... such as "i hate you so much"/"nuh nomu shiruhae"

"I wish I could take away all the things tha tmake you sad"
널 슬프게 하는 그 모든것들을 내가 없에 줬으면 좋겠어
nuhl seul-poo-geh hahnun geu modeun gutteulel nega upsseh jwosseumyun jokessuh
(my romanization is. bad.. haha =___= hopefully you can read it right smile.gif )

"Please stay cheerful until I am by your side again"
내가 네 옆에 다시 있을때까지 힘내 (in case you were wondring, it's translated, until i am blah blah, stay cheerful)
Negah yupeh dashi isseul ddeh ggaji himnae!

best= 최고 (cheh go)

someone (Jaeho) did answer to gochu question.. lol but it got deleted...

literally, gochu means red/hot peppers. (looking like this----> click)

...it's also a slang term for "penis".. you can probably see why.. haha =X

o...... no wonder -_____-;

Either your camera is not connected to your computer or another program is connected to the camera, so you cannot take pictures (on Haduri)

That's the top part. the bottom part is telling you what you can do besides taking pictures on Haduri.. which are loading pictures (to edit or whatever) and screen capture.

I just asked help from someone to write this for me.
But after this one, I'm writing in English so that you'll learn.
And you have to learn English, ok? Ask help from Je Hee =) I told him to hit you if you don't learn english biggrin.gif

Anyway, I'm glad that you arrived safely in Korea.
And I saw some of the pictures from the jungto society website... you were in a lot of pictures =)

It's okay if you replied late. As long as you wrote back, its okay...
And you have to promise me, that you'll reply in English next time, okay??

thank you once again for translating this one =)

oh damn this is annoying all my posts got deleted...*sigh* ok here goes again...

what does 'koll' mean? in context...
'숨을 쉴 수조차 없는걸요 내린 비를 맞은 아이처럼 대지 위에 뿌린 사랑처럼'
the 'omnun koll' bit there...and what does 'naerin' nd 'majun' mean there?

and '끝이 없는 열정, 그댈 가진걸'..
the 'ka jin koll'...also what does the 'kuchi' and 'yol jong' bit mean?

thanks...i forgot what i posted before it was lost, so...*sigh*

also could someone explain the difference between subject nd topic particles properly? i get confused...say, if u were to say 'you're me' or 'i'm like you'...how would u say something like that?

also i hear in dramas 'ko don nyon' at the end of sentances..what does that mean?

thanks a lot to whoever helps!!=]
