Practically, it is correct smile.gif

"새해복 많이 받으세요" is the equivalent of "Happy New Year"

Literally it would mean "I wish u have many New Year Blessings" in English, but yep smile.gif Koreans say it to eachother meaning "Happy New Year"

Sae-Hae-Bok Mahni Budd-Euh Sae-Yoh!

"arajchi" (알았지?) means something like...."You know?" Its the same verb "to know"...just used differently. Hmm..u use it in situations such as ummm....u can ask it as a question to clarify something...

eg: u explain to someone how to do something, and u can ask "arajchi" at the end to mean "do u understand?" or "do u get it?"

With "Kore" ...it means "Nose".

Ko코 is nose. kore... could be barking. lol
코래코래
Jaeho
Kore? Did you hear it correctly?

고래 (gore) is whale.

Don't you mean 그래 (gŭre)? This can mean "yeah/right/that is right" and so on.
sweet_rain
i think tin27 needs to be a tiny bit more specific about what pronunciation is meant by "kore", lol

It can be like Kor=코="nose"

and as Jaeho+KAME have mentioned..

Gorae=고래="Whale"

Geurae=그래="it is"

Goh-rae=거래=transactions/trade (business term)

^well, depending on how u pronounce it, those are your best bet wink.gif

can u tell us where u heard it and what context it was used in?

새해 복 많이 받으세요!!

<seh-heh-boke-mon-ee-bod-euh-say-yo>

i heard it in one of the k-moovie i've watched... but im n0t sure on what i've heard, "geurae" & "kore" rhymes! sweatingbullets.gif ...maybe it's "geurae"(as in "yes/it is"), c0z the act0r in the m0vie seems to be agreeing to a girl he's talkin to. happy.gif
sweet_rain
^ i think so too

and out of all of them, Geurae (그래) is the most commonly used in everyday talk.

Yeah, if the guy sounded like he was agreeing to something, he was probably saying it as in "yes it is"

here is the literal meaning of the above..hope i didnt change it too much:

Whether it is night or morning...i want to love him for all my life...
As long as I am his baby
i dont wanna change the world
This is all i want
Just to be the girl he loves"

These days...

So hectic with Sport and Drama study
There are so many things i lack in and must work soo hard..
It feels like I'm trying to fill a water pot with a huge hole on the bottom
Im feeling so desperate but cant see any opportunities..*sigh
Feeling so impatient...but
I still wanna keep trying til i can achieve something

Thinking and pondering a lot
Feeling it more and getting more experience
Im wondering if this is the only possible method
I only have one soul, and it's not as if I can split my soul into pieces and use them all
But to become a more abundant soul overall
Lots and Lots

Looks as though I've once again started a race that i cannot see the end of ..
I still dont know how and when i would have to face paths more difficult than this one
But for that day to come...

Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!Abyo!!

Bastard: 바보 (Babo) or 병신 (Byoung-Shin)

last time i checked 바보 = stupid/idiot, not bastard. whoever asked should go back and read the last few pages for help with this, there was a whole discussion on the use of "bastard" in Korean when talking to friends. you can call them bastard but with a joking tone, pretty much like you would in English. an example of a word that's used like bastard or *sshole is 새끼. just like in english make sure you're obviously joking and they're not people you don't really know.

^Babo can also mean dummy. It means many things. ^^

Also, that slang word..Saeggi also means baby if it's not slang.

I think this is slang..help me out...

큰 복 누 리 세 요.

What is he asking?

"Stupid idiot", "Bastard", "Retard" sleep.gif WHEN ITS JOKING TO FRIENDS, etc, ITS THE SAME THING dry.gif and "Babo" can mean all of them. No need to get fussy about it sleep.gif When you call someone a "retard" how many of you's actually mean to say that the person should goto a Psychiatrist? We just say it to tease someone.

Sure, i coulda found the real word that actually means "bastard" in korean(모조), but that would be inappropriate within the Korean language to call your friends as a joke sleep.gif I just sed "Babo" and "Byoung Shin" coz they are the common terms that are equivalent of calling your friends "retard" or "bastard" as a joke sleep.gif

^ Both your suggestion and mine are correct, but your one would sound more flowing in a conversation, i think.

or 큰복 누리세요 is like "Hope you get lots of blessings".

I guess as Jaeho sed, it's like "happy new year" wink.gif

hahahaha, yeah, i guess the "시아"(Shia) would sound more better than "씨아"(Ssia) but its pretty much almost the same.

In my opinion, i would leave "준스"(Junse) as it is than "준수"(Junsoo). i know it sez "JunSU", but im thinking that when that is pronounced in the native tongue (Chinese?) it would come out as "준스".

Well, for the person who wanted it translated, here are your options depending on how u wanted it to sound

Junsu (where the "U" is subtle and short) = 준스

Junsoo (where the end sounds longer and and sounds more like "ooo") = 준수

Umm, "Xiah Junsu" when sed in the original Chinese accent, im guessing that it would sound more like "Sha-Junsu". In that case, it would be more accurate to say "샤 준스"
