That's because "shimjangi momcho" means "my heart stops"... "i" is the subject marker. So, the *heart* is doing something. "shimjangul momcho" means "stop my heart." So when you said "shimjangi momchuge hesso," it means "my heart stopped (something). That's why I corrected you saying it's "shimjangUL momchuge hesso" (/something/ stopped my heart)

hello .. i have to do a presentation again -__-'' for my korean class .. and this time i have to introduce my family members. need help with the fisrt few lines

5) my sister was born in canada and so am i (do i use 그리고 here?)

What you said is right about the assignment. Write in English the definition of the words in parenthesis, then write a sentence with the word.

Heung-boo and his wife took a gourd and started sawing it.
- 켜기 -> 켜다 = saw / cut

Nol-boo was being greedy, hoping that the swallow (bird) would give him another gourd seed.
- 부렸다 -> 부리다 = play _____ (like play a trick), but in this, it means being greedy

Nol-boo presented money/treasures to the oracle (or witch or whatever) and escaped the divine punshiment.
- 면하였다 -> 면하다 = escape

if a non-korean girl calls an older (lke 3-4 years older) korean guy "OPPA"...
does it sound ok?..or what do you think the guy will think?...

i'm not korean but my bf is, i'm not comfortable in calling him oppa infront of other people, i feel it's weird and i'm a bit embarassed on what other people may think but he says i should call him oppa and at the end of the day, what matters most is what we (me and my bf) think. and i don't go around calling my other korean guy friends oppa.just their first names and they are okay with it.

For me, personally, I think it's really.... not inappropriate, but awkward and out-of-place when a non-Korean girl uses OPPA to Korean guys. I really don't find it cute or anything when it's used by non-Koreans. It's not just this OPPA thing though.. this applies to anime-obsessed American kids using "arigatou" or "kawaii" on daily basis. I'm against using foreign words in sentences.. it just sounds strange. Sounds a bit off-topic, but yeah. (:

here's my 2 cents. it's awkward, especially if you don't know him well. if you're like classychic and your bf asks you to, then why not? unless you feel weird about it. i don't think you have to be korean, but i think it's weird if you're not culturally korean at all.


죽을만큼 사랑해 means something like i love you to death. but, i like 하늘만큼 땅만큼 사랑한다 better. it means something like to the ends of the earth and heavens, i love you. anyway, you can kind of get the meaning, right?

절대 아니야 means there's no way. it makes the 아냐 become stronger in tone.

It was something like, if the end of the name ends in a constant, then you use one of them..

"ah" is ONLY for your friends with SAME AGE. Not to anyone in your age, but you friends.
"shi" is a formal address. kids up to high schoolers rarely use them because there is no one to use it to. When you go to the "Real world", harhar, like in business meetings or any formal situations, you use it to address someone to respect that person.
